Take lower section off first, take care not to strain the battery wires

Some people simply cut the old battery wires and heat shrink them to new battery wires to avoid having to re-solder the small solder points on the PCB.

If you want to ensure your unit stays waterproof, you can add a thin line of silicone seal around case prior to reassembly

Can you recommend a battery to purchase for the Packtalk BOLD? Thanks!
I can't recommend a particular one, when my Smartpack battery died I cannibalized an OEM battery from a broken Packtalk unit.
Here are a couple batteries on offer from Ebay and Amazon that claim they fit the Packtalk and have some good reviews (do your own research):
