Introduction

The Power/Volume buttons on the Dell Inspiron 11 i3147 are on placed together on a single board. If one of these buttons breaks, you may need to replace the entire part.

Before you start, power off your laptop completely and disconnect it from any external power sources.

Close the computer and turn it over so that the bottom of the computer is facing up.

Remove the nine 7.6mm PH0 screws on the back cover.

Use a plastic opening tool to remove the cover from the back of the computer.

Remove the three small 4.7mm PH0 screws that secure the battery.

Move the hard drive cable away from the battery.
You want to make enough clearance to remove the battery without it catching on the hard drive cable.

Lift the battery up and toward yourself to remove it, revealing the back of the keyboard underneath.

Disconnect the cable for the power and volume buttons from the motherboard.
You may need to use a spudger to remove the cable from the routing guides by the speaker.
