This guide will demonstrate how to remove the collection basket inside your sprinkler and how to wash out calcium deposits to allow better water flow after being dormant for the winter. The type of sprinkler head this guide applies to is the Rain Bird adjustable 4in. Pop-up Spray Head. The project doesn't require two people but it makes the cleaning process easier and quicker to complete. The time to clean one head is about 10 minutes.

    • Place your fingers under the edges of the smaller circle, then slowly lift the head.

    • Keep a hose close by to make it easier to clean the basket.

    • Twist the head counter clockwise to remove the sprinkler head from the neck, exposing the basket.

    • If working with two people, use one hand to hold the base of the neck so the sprinkler doesn't fall back into the body of the sprinkler.

    • If working by yourself, slowly release the neck back down. It is still retrievable by twisting the head back on and repeating the process in step 2.

    • Use the hose to wash out the basket of any dirt or calcium deposits.

  5. How to Clean Calcium Deposits From a Sprinkler Head: étape 5, image 1 de 1
    • Reassemble the head, placing back the basket in the center of the neck and twisting the head clockwise to tighten it down.

    • Release the neck and the sprinkler is clean and ready for use.

Conclusion

Once the head is reassembled the water flow should no longer be obstructed and should regain the full range of spray.
