I have had my ASUS K55A for several years, and over that time I have replaced or upgraded just about everything that can be upgraded. To this end, I have had the K55A stripped right down to a pile of parts that would scare most Geek Squad guys, and give them nightmares. The other 2 slots are under the cover which can be removed by removing the 2 screws and prying the cover from the back. Be careful though, you can easily snap the front tabs off. There are only 2 memory slots. Max of 8gb Ram. Front left corner. (Front Right Corner if the Laptop in flipped over to expose the bottom) However, the 1 USB 2.0 port does have a dedicated USB 2.0 SD Card reader plugged into it. Sorry for the bad news.
NOTE: Just FYI, once you have added another ram module to this laptop, and you turn it on, the screen may stay blank for up to a minute while the BIOS registers the new memory. Don’t panic if your screen does not come on right away. Give the BIOS time to update the new memory.
When I updated the ram in my Acer Nitro 5, the screen did not come on right away, and I thought it was a non compatible ram module, but this was not the case, just had to be patient.
Old School Electronics repair. I refuse to part with my ASUS K55a Laptop. (My Mom gave it to me, and she is no longer with us, so I will have it until I can no longer get parts for it.)
