Hi. My 3rd Gen 32 GB Touch had a screen that turned on but was unresponsive to touch. This happened after a severe battery depletion and then re-charge. I tried your suggestion of holding the power button and start button at the same time to force the device to reboot. After the forced reboot, the touch responsiveness of the screen worked again.
