Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 Troubleshooting

This issue may be a result of a few issues including, but not limited to, a dead battery, corrosion on the battery terminals, a damaged/defective camera or factory software issue.

Verify that the batteries have been properly connected to the terminals.

Replace the batteries with fully charged or new batteries before moving on.

Determine if the battery charger is charging the battery.

If the charger is functioning properly replace dead battery with a new battery.

If there is corrosion on the battery terminals they may be preventing a good connection. In this case the terminals need to be cleaned. Use a Q-Tip/Cleaning cloth

and Rubbing Alcohol/Vinegar/Lemon Juice to remove the corrosion.

If the battery compartment door won't stay closed, it is possible that the plastic latch on the compartment door is broken. First check the brown plastic latch on the compartment door to determine if the latch is broken or not. If the latch is broken, consider replacing the battery door cover. If latch is not broken, then check the blue latch inside the compartment door to determine if the spring on the blue latch is working. If both the brown latch and the blue latch are functional, check if there is dust or dirt that might cause the spring malfunction. If all else fails, consider replacing the whole case.

The flash has an automatic feature that can be set to different scenes. The settings should be checked before troubleshooting. Flash icon should display verifying flash is active. Use menu settings to check scene selection, see users manual.

Camera flash may be broken and need replaced, Camera flash capacitor may be defective.

Click the DISP arrow and center button several times. If the back light is working, the problem is in the screen ribbon. The screen will need replaced. If the back light does not turn on adjust the display settings. If this does not fix the problem, remove the battery and unplug charger. Reinsert battery and hold the On/Off button for 10 seconds. Check that the screen turns on initially. If the screen turns on initially then displays black for video and picture, this is a problem with the lens. The lens will need to be replaced.(The link to our guide goes here)

Turn power off, and then back on again. A message may appear if the camera detects an excessive stress, dust or debris on the lens. If this occurs turn the power off of the camera, and re-start your device.

If problem persists, turn the power off, eject the battery and then reinsert into the camera. Allow for the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds. If problem persists, refer to the repair and solutions page.

If there are visible dust and debris particles located in the lens that are visible in the pictures that are taken, refer to our repair and solutions page. A technician may need to service your device.

While the power is turned off, check to see if the drive part of the lens moves properly. An alternative solution may be to press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. If the lens still will not open, retract or extend, reset your device and see our repair and solutions page.
