error code remove and check print cartridges appearing on screen i have replaced cartridges nothing seems to be broken but error code remove and check print cartridges wont go away, what do i do next?

I see alot of these issues come into the repair shop I work for.
There are small electronic strips on both the cartridges and the carriage they set into. If you have tried new cartridges, then it could be the contacts on the strip in the back of the carriage.
Try cleaning the contacts with a Q Tip and some alcohol. See if this helps. If not, then most likely the carriage needs replaced.
The issue there is that generally.... There are no parts available for most inkjet printers. Companies like HP, Canon, and Lexmark dont usually have much in the way of parts available. Even the nice inkjet printers are more or less designed to be disposable.

Thanks so much for this information I have been trying everything. I will clean the contacts.
Tried cleaning the contacts.. still not working. Turned printer off with cartridges to left on carriage and cleaned ink residue below and above the contacts. After several swabbings, started up again and no more problems.

You need to clean out the metal connecting links behind the cartridge. All you need to do is to take out both cartridges apart use an alcohol swab or perfume to carefully clean them because sometime it happened because of the spilled ink between the cartridges makes poor contact and causing such errors.

This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display. If the LCD display reads "Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall," the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
-Clean the color cartridge contacts.
-Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
-Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
BTW, the cleaning instructions say to avoid the nozzles. For the most part this is true, they are extremely small, and can clog easily. If you have a lint free cloth, dampen the cloth with distilled water, and gently wipe the nozzles, this can remove any ink build up, and will also wick up ink from the nozzles, helping to clear them. But only do this if you notice streaking in your printouts.
If the LCD display reads "Remove and Check Print Cartridges," replace the color cartridge.
If the LCD display reads "Remove and Check Print Cartridges," follow the steps below:
-Reinsert the color cartridge.
-Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
-Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
-Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
-Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads "Remove and Check Print Cartridges,: replace the black or photo cartridge.

What is the lights that connect to printer out side where you put cartridges and also has a strip that seems to make them work

Have same prolem, message remove and check cartridge in right stall. Have xchecked and nothing seams wrong. Anybody have any answer for me?

I changed the date on the printer to the year 2009 (currently 2017) and all is good. You need to go through the reset process explained by many above and be very quick to get to the "fax setup," then "date and time," and enter a dummy date at least 4 years ago. Reading through many strings I saw a comment that the HP printers will not accept cartridges older than 4 years. Worked for me. If for some reason HP finds a work around, I am going to buy a new printer and it will not be a HP. Best of luck!

Hi dependhd can you describe the process to access the fax setup I have tried many ways without lucky
How do you change the date? Printer does nothing but keeps asking to check cartridges, can't access configuration menu at all, thanks.
