The printhead is probably clogged. Even with alcohol or specific solvent, it is sometimes impossible to dissolve the mix of dry ink and dust.
The only way is to replace the printhead. The reference is CN688A.
However, the teardown of the printer (To access the printhead) is not easy but remains feasible...

There is a few comments on french web sites about many things
- reboot the printer it is a software well known bugg
- do for that special menu commands
- put a new firmware in place
Do a good wash af the ink system
By dissolvant on web site and do expenseives an long time things
the most fun is put pressure into the cartige with an air injection
just after funny : do a special reset by change type of paper because the bugg will be reset
ARRRF ARRRF ARRRF : we are on the net every idiot could say something ...!
Fortunatly a guy explain simply and with pictures how to desmont and acced to the head printer and how to exchange it
A specialist work but accessible and very more efficient than all the other things I described in first
And there is the ref of the spare part
So that is THE solution to solve the print problem and not put again money into a new printer
Thank you again to reasonables peoples who are helping the others with there experiences

I installed new print head, new cartridge, redid software, still no black Repair shop say's $150 to fix
Same problem! HP says reboot....I don’t understand how it can print the report in black ink but nothing in black that I try!
Also installed a new print head int its still not printing black... I dont know how this is possible.

Yes, I have a new ink cartridge and I have cleaned it with alcohol.

no noise at all when I do a test the blank ink shows just clear
