I ran out of gas and since then the cadillac won't start. I trying to run a diagnostic but every time I hook up the batter the car tries to turn over. No key in the ignition. How do I run a diagnostic on the vehicle or what can I do to stop it from trying to start via the battery

@brandonpate,brandon , Find the starter relay and switch it out and try. Unhook the battery cable from the starter, the problem is most likely a stuck solenoid or wires shorted to starter, check all wire/plugs for damage/burnt/etc. and have starter tested,(link below will show starter removal). If there is a remote start hooked up it to could have a short in it or wires to it. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free starter testing like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track. Fix the cranking issue and then you can run the diagnostics no problem. Because chances are the errors were erased when battery was unhooked. Other links below may help also.
