Hi!

The following text has been quoted from the Canon forums, someone had a similar issue and this is what the rep answered:

"Err 30" indicates that malfunctions related to the power source have been detected. Please follow these steps to attempt to resolve the issue:

Remove the battery from the camera.

Using a soft microfiber cleaning cloth, thoroughly clean any contacts that you are able to clean on the battery and inside the battery compartment. Do this even if the contacts already look clean.

Retry the battery in the camera.

If the error still occurs, please try an alternate battery. If the alternate battery produces the same results, your camera will require service to correct the issue."

Hope this helps.

This can also be cause by contaminates and mainly shutter issues, see the many answers on this post:

Also monitor its environment

that could easily create this issue.

Like leaving camera or any delicate device

in hot/damp enclosed vehicle.

They can be easily forgotten there,

exposed for days.

Good Luck.

I'd first start with the other troubleshooting methods in the other answers, with checking the battery. However is seems like this error is often times caused by a bad shutter and there is a fair chance the shutter assembly will need to be replaced.

Definitely rule out any other possible causes first, but if it is deemed the shutter is the cause, you can use this guide to replace the shutter assembly. It's not the easiest repair to do, as it involves disassembling the majority of the camera (including the image sensor), but it is doable.
