Introduction

The solid state drive, or SSD in short, has the same functionality of the hard drive in storing data, but without a magnet. If the SSD is damaged from long time use or being given the wrong data, then a replacement for the SSD may be necessary.

  1. Make sure the device is off and is not charging by an adapter.
    • Make sure the device is off and is not charging by an adapter.

    • Flip the laptop so that the back panel is visible.

  2. Unscrew twelve 5 mm  screws from the back panel with the Phillips #1 screwdriver.
    • Unscrew twelve 5 mm screws from the back panel with the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Pry the back panel open with the plastic spudger.

    • Pry it gently so that the back panel does not crack.

    • You could also pry the back panel open with your nails.

    • Remove the single 3 mm black screw using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Pull the SSD away from the motherboard.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
