Jammed Oil Tray

The oil cartridge often gets stuck and is difficult to take out.

Sticky oil tray

The oil tray may still be sticky from the extra tape from shipping, or essential oils could build up residue on the tray. Removing the tray and regularly cleaning it with a soft cloth and a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water will wash the residue off the tray for it to be able to slide out again.

Oil tray misalignment

Placing the tray into its slot unproperly or using excessive force can cause misalignment. This can also lead to the tray warping over time to the point of not fitting properly anymore. To prevent this, take care in positioning the oil tray back into the humidifier correctly without excessive force. If the humidifier is still under warranty, contact the HoMedics Consumer Relations department if an oil tray replacement is needed.

Leakage from Water Tank

The water tank frequently leaks out of the humidifier when running.

Water tank is installed poorly

Bad installations of the water tank may result in water leaks. Ensure the water tank is positioned leveled on a flat surface. Check the installation of any screws that hold the water tank together. If an installation error is found, try to fix the installation with your basic hand tools.

Damaged water tank

Water tanks may have cracks or fractures that can cause leakage of water. It is recommended to check regularly the condition of the water tank. If a crack or fracture is found, contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Mold Build Up

Bacteria is growing inside the water tank and spreading to its surrounding areas.

Insufficient regular maintenance

Not giving the humidifier enough maintenance can result in the growth of bacteria inside the water tank and its surrounding areas. It is recommended to clean the water tank regularly and make sure the water tank does not have a water leakage.

Relocate the humidifier

Ensure the humidifier is on a dry place and has proper ventilation. Bacteria or fungi have higher chances to grow in more humid environments. Dry places with proper ventilation can help reduce the growth of mold inside our humidifier.

Accumulated White Dust

The water tank starts to collect mineral dust and worsen the room’s air quality.

Using tap water/Hard water

Using hard water can cause the humidifier to release mineral dust or the “white dust” into the air. To prevent, make sure the water tank is cleaned regularly and choose distilled or demineralized water.

Insufficient regular maintenance

Failure to clean out water tank after each use can cause the humidifier to become clogged with dirt and release mineral dust into the air which can be harmful for the lungs. To prevent this issue, all that Is needed is to regularly disinfect water tank after each use and replace the water before each use. When replacing the water, make sure to use distilled or demineralized water.

Noisy Device

The humidifier makes a loud high-pitched hum when it is turned on.

Unstable water reservoir

A misplaced water reservoir will cause the humidifier to vibrate and make excessive noise. To prevent this, simply make sure the water reservoir is secure and placed properly. Make sure to regularly check that the water reservoir is free of any dirt.

Broken, loose, and/or obstructed fan

The fan might produce excessive noise is If there is an irregular amount of dust collected which imbalances the blades of the fan. Collected dust can also dry out the fan’s bearing and axle causing noise as well. This is usually a result of a humidifier being placed in a dusty environment. Firstly, make sure your fan is working by turning the device on and if no mist is being released, the fan is most likely broken. To prevent the fan from making these sounds, you should lubricate the fan’s bearing and axle. Keep humidifier from dusty environments. Call the manufacturer if fan is broken for a replacement.
