Speaker Fails To Pair Via Bluetooth
The device will not connect to the Bluetooth speaker when powered on or lose connectivity.
JBL Pulse 4 Not In Pairing Mode
Turn on the speaker first. Then press the Bluetooth button on the speaker which is located next to the power button. Make sure your Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings. Select the JBL pulse 4 speaker and you should now be able to play music.
JBL Pulse 4 Needs To Be Restarted
If JBL Pulse 4 fails to connect to Bluetooth, or is losing connectivity, a manual restart of the speakers firmware may be necessary. Hold the power button and the play/pause button for 5+ seconds to reset the speaker. Once speaker has been restarted power on the speaker and press the Bluetooth button to pair to a device.
Speaker May Be Connected To A Different Device
If the speaker is connected to another device, it may prevent the desired device from pairing. To resolve this, first, locate the currently connected device and disconnect it from the speaker. Then, proceed with the pairing process.
Bluetooth Chip May Be Faulty
The Bluetooth chip on the motherboard may not be working properly if the speaker does not want to pair with any devices.
LED Lights Won't Turn On
Lights do not properly work when the speaker is powered on and the music is playing.
Firmware Out Of Date
Having this problem, a firmware reset of the JBL speaker may be needed. To reset the speaker hold the power button and the play/pause button for 5+ seconds to reset. If this doesn't resolve the issue then you might need to update the speakers firmware. The speakers firmware can be reset from the JBL app. Download the JBL app and connect the speaker and go to restart the speaker in the app.
Lights Are Burnt Out
The LED lights do not come on when the device is powered on and playing music. If no lights are visible, they may be burnt out and require replacement. Try and reset the speaker by holding the power button and the play/pause button for 5+ seconds to reset the speaker. If after the reset the lights are still not working your lights need to be replaced. Follow our LED light module replacement guide to fix this issue.
Distorted Audio
Audio is distorted or crackling, very hard to hear clear.
Speakers Are Blown
If the speaker sounds distorted, this may be because the speaker itself is blown out. Try bringing your phone closer to the speaker to ensure you're within Bluetooth range. If your audio is still not clear follow our speaker replacement guide to learn more on replacing the speakers.
Broken Motherboard
Ensure that your phone is connected to the speaker and within Bluetooth range. Try to reset the speaker by holding the power button and the play/pause button for 5+ seconds. If the audio is still distorted after you're connected and in range and you've restarted the speaker, you may need to replace the motherboard.
The Speaker Has Water Damage
Your speaker is waterproof, but if there are any cracks or holes, it may be subjected to water damage. If you suspect any water damage, submerge the speaker in rice for 1-3 days.
The Speaker Will Not Charge
The speaker is plugged in and not charging.
Charging Port Is Broken
If your speaker is not charging try a different charger to see if the charger is your issue. If your charging cable is new and works for other devices your charging port may be broken. Follow our charging port replacement guide for further instructions.
Faulty Battery
If the battery is not charging or turns off quickly, it may be time to replace it. Try connecting your speaker using a different charger to ensure that the charging cable is not the issue. If your speaker is charging, but failing to hold a charge then your battery is most likely the issue and it should be replaced.
The Device Won't Turn On
The speaker shows no signs of turning on or responding.
The Device Is Not Powered On
Press the power button on the device. Make sure that the lights on the speaker turn on to check if the device is on or off. If the lights are on, then the speaker is on and might need to be charged. If the light is off, the speaker is off.
The Device Is Not Charged
Plug in your charger to the speakers USB port to charge the device. Make sure the charging light is blinking on the base of the speaker. If the light does not blink, a battery replacement may be needed. See our battery replacement guide.
The Charging Port Is Broken
Check to see if your USB charging wires work with other devices. If the charging wire works then you may need to replace the port bay. See our port replacement guide.
