The Marshall Woburn is unable to connect via Bluetooth

Your speaker will not connect to a Bluetooth input.

Device is not paired with the Woburn

Your device has to be paired with the Woburn before it can connect to Bluetooth. Follow these steps to connect your Woburn wirelessly to your Bluetooth device:

1. Turn the Woburn Active Stereo loudspeaker on.

2. Select Bluetooth as the source by pushing the Source/Wake button until the Bluetooth LED is lit.

3. Activate the Bluetooth functionality on your device (Smartphone, Tablet, Computer).

4. Press the Pair Button. The LED light on the Woburn will start to flash rapidly in red.

5. On your device, select the Woburn Speaker from your list. The LED light on the speaker will turn to a steady red.

6. You are now ready to play your music via the Woburn Speaker.

Bluetooth is not enabled on your device

Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled in your device settings and that airplane mode is turned off.

Bluetooth signal cannot reach the device

Ensure that your device is in pairing range of the Woburn and that there are no large walls or objects obstructing it.

Faulty Bluetooth module

Your Woburn may have a failing Bluetooth module. Follow the Bluetooth controller replacement guide for more information.

Speaker is clipping/crackling while playing music

When the music playing hits peaks in volume, the speaker makes a crackling sound and/or clips. This commonly occurs when the amplifier of the speaker receives too much power in low or high pitches. The amplifier will clip the signal sent to the speaker.

The source volume is too loud

Lower the volume of the source.

The Woburn’s volume is too loud

Lower the volume and/or bass volume on the Woburn.

The amplifier is faulty

The amplifier may be faulty and may not be able to receive power as intended. The amplifier may need to be replaced.

The Marshall Woburn is won’t switch inputs

When the speaker is connected to multiple different devices, the input button on the top panel isn’t swapping between them.

Loose connection

If you are using a physical connection, make sure that all of the cables running into the back are connected securely. If the connection is loose then the speaker may not recognize it as an input and won’t switch to it.

Faulty audio jack

If the cord is securely plugged in and you’re still unable to change input types, try isolating the audio jack. Disconnect all other devices and see if the speaker starts using the device you want to listen to. If it doesn’t you may have a damaged audio jack. To replace the jack you can follow our back input board replacement guide.

Faulty Bluetooth receiver

Disconnect all devices from the back panel of your speaker and double-check that you’re still connected to the speaker via Bluetooth. If you can’t connect to the speaker or if music still won’t play even with a connection then you might have an issue with your Bluetooth module. To replace the Bluetooth receiver you can follow our Bluetooth receiver replacement guide.

Faulty input button

If connecting devices individually works, but the speaker still isn’t able to change between inputs while multiple devices are connected then the problem may be with the input button. To replace the broken input button follow our top panel replacement guide.

The Marshall Woburn is producing static noise

When the speaker is connected to an audio device, it produces a static noise while turned on

Differing power levels

Static noise can be caused when a speaker and audio device that are on different networks are connected with a cable. Try plugging your audio device and speaker into the same wall outlet and seeing if the static goes away.

Faulty audio cable

A poorly produced or damaged audio cable can also cause static noise. Switch out your audio cable for a different cable that you know works. You can also test the current audio cable with a different speaker to see if it works properly.

Faulty audio jack

A damaged audio jack could also lead to static noise. First, make sure that your cable is fully inserted into the jack. Next, try turning the plug in the socket. If there's any unusual movement or distortion in the audio then your audio jack may be damaged. To replace the jack you can follow our back input board replacement guide.

Faulty speakers

Static noise can also be caused by damaged speakers. Try connecting your speaker to a device via Bluetooth. If the static noise is still there, it's likely that there is a problem with your speakers. To replace the damaged speakers follow our tweeter replacement guide or our subwoofer replacement guide.

The Marshall Woburn is not turning on

Does not turn on despite being plugged into a wall socket

Faulty power socket

Make sure power is going to the wall socket by plugging in another device that you know works and checking if it receives power. Conversely, plug the Woburn into another working socket to see if it works.

Plug is not plugged in correctly

Make sure everything is in the off position before plugging into an outlet you know works, then turn it on. Check the parts where the cord plugs into the speaker itself for damage.

Damaged power cord

Check the power cord for damage. If the wire is frayed it could cause a loss of power. If plugs are dirty and full of dust or other debris it could cause a loss of power. It could also cause a fire if enough lint/dust is in the plug.

Faulty power port

Double-check that it does not work even if used with a different cord and wall outlet. If the speaker is still not powered on, there is likely a problem with its ability to receive power from its cord. The power post is most likely damaged in this case. To replace the motherboard, which houses the power port, you can follow our back input board replacement guide.

On a Marshall Woburn I, the sound was fainting after 2 on the volume pot. After a disassembly, I found two swollen electrolyte caps: C23 220µF 35V 105C and C85 220µF 35V 105C. Changed 'em, and now my friend is happy and this Bluetooth speaker runs again smoothly :)

By the way, for the french market, inside fuse is labeled T16A L250V
