Why is my jbl boombox not charging or powering on?

Hi @tim60682,

have you checked that there's 19V DC on the output plug of the power adapter?

Have you tried a different, compatible, known working adapter to see if the speaker charged/turned on OK?

What have you tried?

I did a complete disassembly of my JBL boombox one. I completely removed the battery from its compartment and tested it on a multimeter it showed 7.3 DC volts. Next with the battery still unplugged from the unit I plugged a 20v 4.5 amp aftermarket charger to the outside port I tested the inside PCB plug to the motherboard and it showed 19.5 volts. I have checked for a continuity and all the circuits none are showing bad. It is still a brick pick a number if anybody has any ideas or pointers please I could use that. You conclusion at this point I would say it's either something bad on the motherboard or a software issue / firmware that I cannot update because it will not power on.

@randalljhole what voltage do you get on the battery connector when you plug the charger in?

@tim60682 did you ever find what the issue was? I'm having same problem.

Power reading 20V when connected to mains at PCB pins.

Battery is reading 7V. Only other thing I've found is that when battery is connected to motherboard, the Voltage across it drops to 0V. I've ordered a replacement battery to see if that will do the trick.
