Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Keyboard Replacement

Introduction

If the keyboard becomes dirty, it loses keys, or it becomes non-functional, you might need to replace the keyboard of your Lenovo ThinkPad T480.

The keyboard is an integral component of your Lenovo ThinkPad T480. It is one of the main input devices of your laptop, allowing the user to enter data in the form of characters like numbers and letters into the computer.

This repair is an easy process. Just be sure to disable the internal battery, remove the external battery and unplug the device prior to beginning your fix. Also be careful when you remove the keyboard because it is connected to two cables on the underside that need to be detached.

    • Disable the battery, power down, and unplug your device before you begin.

    • Flip the laptop over so the bottom of the device is showing.

    • Using your fingers, slide the lock on each side of the battery to the unlocked position.

    • Remove the battery from the slot.

    • Use the Phillips #1 screwdriver to loosen the two screws parallel to the battery compartment.

    • Open the laptop so the keyboard is facing you.

    • Push the keyboard towards the screen and away from the trackpad and then slide it out towards you gently.

    • The keyboard is connected to the board by two ribbon connectors.

    • Be careful not to rip the connectors when you flip the keyboard over.

    • Flip the keyboard over towards you to expose the backside of the keyboard and the two ribbon connectors.

    • Using the black nylon spudger, flip the first ribbon connector lock open. Slide the first connector out.

    • Using the black nylon spudger, unlock the second ribbon connector and slide it out from the port.

    • Remove the keyboard from the laptop.

Thanks for this. I need help with my Lenovo Thinkpad T480 keyboard to motherboard connector pin. That is the third image in step 6.
