Device Won’t Power On

The laptop is unable to respond to any attempts of powering up.

Faulty Power Adapter

Having a faulty power adapter will prevent the device from charging properly. Having a working power adapter will allow the device to fully charge and power on as usual. Your power adapter is considered faulty if your charge light does not turn on when plugged in. If your power adapter is faulty, you need to purchase a replacement adapter.

Faulty Battery

Having a faulty battery will cause the device to not have a source of power. Getting a replacement battery is necessary for the device to function properly. You know your battery is faulty if your laptop only powers up when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of charging time. If you have a faulty battery, purchasing a replacement is needed. It is also recommended to purchase a new battery if your battery-life is extremely short spanning.

Keyboard Not Working

The keys on the keyboard are not responding to inputs or keys appear to be broken/missing.

Faulty Keyboard

Having an entire keyboard that is faulty will require a replacement. Ordering a replacement part and ++installing it in your device++ will fix the problem.

Keys are Stuck in Place

If keys are stuck in place, this will cause problems with keyboard input. To fix this, remove any stuck keys, clean the area beneath them, then replace the keys back.

Keys are Missing

Having missing keys will cause problems with keyboard input. It is necessary to replace the missing keys with replacement keys to have a functioning keyboard.

Device Overheating

Computer gets concerningly hot upon basic usage and may randomly shut off without notification.

Dust in Vents of Fans

Dust in the fan can lead to the fan not working properly, causing the laptop to overheat. Remove the back of the laptop and locate the fan, ++as shown here++. Using a can of compressed air or a duster, clear the dust out from the fan.

Inadequate Amount of Thermal Paste

If there is not enough thermal paste on the CPU, the temperature of the device will get too high. To fix this, more thermal paste must be applied on the surface of the CPU.

Device Running Slowly

The device shows signs of poor performance, such as lagging, slow response times, etc.

Not Enough RAM

If the machine doesn’t have enough RAM, this can cause problems with the running speed. Increasing the amount of RAM in the machine can increase the running speed of the device. ++Install a higher amount of RAM into your laptop++.

Processor

Having an outdated processor can cause the machine to run slowly. Replacing the processor with newer technology can increase the running speed of the device. Replace your outdated processor with a more advanced processor.

Too Large of a Hard-Drive/Lack of SSD-Drive

Having too large of a hard drive can cause slow running speeds. In order to fix this, you can upgrade to a solid state drive (SSD) or decrease the size of your hard drive. See ++how to replace a hard drive in your device++.

DVD Drive Not Opening/Closing

The disk drive on the side of the device will not respond to attempts at opening/closing.

Broken or Defective DVD Drive

If your DVD drive is unable to open, then it is a good sign that it is broken. A broken DVD drive must be replaced for it to be restored to working condition. To do this, a new DVD drive must be purchased and installed. See how to replace a DVD drive.
