Battery does not charge fully

The cloudbook is connected to a power supply but the battery icon does not reach full charge regardless the charging time.

Faulty power supply

Plug a different device to ensure the outlet properly conducts current.

Faulty AC adapter

Test AC adapter of the cloudbook by plugging the adapter into different power outlets. Let the cloudbook charge for about two hours. If the problem persists, the AC adapter may be defective.

Dirty or obstructed contacts

Caution: Before any cleaning, disconnect the power cord. Blow compressed air duster into the external contacts between the AC adapter and the battery port. When spraying the compressed air, hold the can upright to avoid moisture freeze. To clean the internal contacts between the battery and the cloudbook, gently wipe the metallic contacts with a lint-free cloth. Use this guide to remove the battery.

Battery is not in proper position.

Use this guide to remove the battery. Verify the battery is firmly confined between the metallic contacts. Then position the battery back.

Faulty battery

If none of the previous suggestions work, consider to purchase a new battery. Use our battery replacement guide.

Speakers do not give sound

The speakers of my laptop don’t give any/distorted sound.

Headphones plugged in

If your laptop has something plugged into the audio jack, such as headphones, then the laptop will automatically switch all sound to play through the headphones instead of through the speakers. Check to see if the audio jack has something plugged into, such as headphones, and remove them.

Muted or Low sound

Your laptop may have been switched to mute or the sound may have just been lowered enough to where you can barely hear it. Left click on the sound icon at the bottom right of the desktop (the symbol looks like a speaker) and make sure that the volume is not low or muted.

Blocked speakers

Over time the holes that the speakers point out of can become blocked by dust or other debris which can cause a muffle or muted sound. Check to see if these holes are blocked. To clear these holes just blow air through them or use a toothpick or needle to push the debris through.

Damaged speakers

If these suggestions do not help remedy this problem for you, then the speakers may be dead or damaged. If this is the case, then the speakers will need to be replaced. This can be done by following this guide.

Laptop overheats/crashes

My laptop gets very hot while using it.

While using my laptop, it crashes in the middle of something.

Obstructed ventilation

A great advantage of this laptop is how thin it is. This has a drawback though as being very thin means no fan is being used to help cool the CPU (central processing unit) and there are minimal holes for cool air to get into the laptop. To help keep this laptop cool avoid using it on a hot surface or using it for long periods of time on your lap. This passes a lot of heat to the laptop. Make sure no holes are obstructed by debris or other materials. If debris needs to be cleared just use air to blow the debris away or something small, such as a needle, to help unblock the holes.

Outdated drivers

The laptop could be crashing due to an outdated driver. Drivers are typically installed by the manufacturer, but new ones become available to help with performance and security. If the laptop drive becomes too out of date you may have issues with performance and crashing. Consult the manufacturer’s website for driver information or seek expert help.

Old thermal compound

The component that runs hottest on this laptop is the CPU. In order to keep this component cool thermal compound is used to help remove heat from the hot surface of the CPU and disperse it into the rest of the laptop. If you have had the laptop for some time (a few months to a year) the thermal compound could have gotten old and may need to be replaced. If the laptop is newer, but still has this issue then the thermal compound could have been applied poorly or the thermal compound used could have not been of high quality. Either of these issues can be remedied by replacement of the thermal compound. Either seek professional assistance for replacing thermal compound or follow our guide to do it yourself.

As a side note, the age of the laptop is based on when it was made, not when you purchased it. Even if you purchased the laptop a week ago, it could be a few years old.

Laptop keeps overheating

The overheat of laptop which caused by the block of vent and fan may lead to these problems. To fix it, just follow this guide and replace the thermal compound.

Black Screen

Power is on but nothing on the screen it's like in a deep sleep.

Defective LCD screen

If you try all the methods, but still useless, it may be bad LCD screen. However, considering the cost and the difficulty of replacement, we recommend that you change a new one directly.

Unknown reason

Try pulling out the battery and disconnecting the power cord then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Reinstall the battery and connect the power. Try to power it back on.

USB is not reading

My laptop doesn't recognize anything connected to the USB ports.

The driver of device is damaged or missing

Try the same device on another PC, and try another USB device on your PC. If the device fails to work on both PCs, you have a defective USB device. However, if the device can work on another PC, you should check your laptop.

USB devices are supposed to install their own drivers when you plug them into a PC, but occasionally that doesn't work. You might be able to fix the problem with a driver update or reinstalling. Go to the device manufacturer's website and see if there is a Windows driver available. If there is, download and install the driver.

Defective USB port

If none of this works, you may have a defective USB port.

At this point, we suggest to bring your PC to a professional.
