Computer Will Not Turn On

The computer does not respond when pressing the power button.

Broken or Defective Power Adapter

If the laptop is plugged into power via the power adapter, check to make sure the charging light on the laptop is on. If it is not, your power adapter is broken or defective. You will need to purchase a replacement adapter.

Broken or Defective Battery

If the laptop is not connected to power via the power adapter and the battery is installed into the laptop, try connecting the power adapter to the computer. If this does not change the computer's behavior, remove the battery. If the computer only turns on when the power adapter is connected or when the battery is not installed, your battery is broken or defective. You will need to purchase a replacement battery. You can use this guide to replace the battery.

Battery Will Not Hold Charge

After charging, the computer does not last as long as it used to when disconnected from power.

Consumed Battery

Batteries have a limited amount of recharge cycles. If, after charging fully, the computer lasts much less time than it has in the past, your battery's charge cycles may be depleted. You will need to purchase a replacement battery. You can use this guide to replace the battery.

Computer Turns Off Randomly

During normal operation, the computer shuts down without warning.

Overheating Caused by Dust or Debris in Cooling Fan Shroud Area

If your computer is shutting down randomly and is abnormally hot, your computer may be overheating because there is dust or debris in your computer's fan's shroud. Try spraying compressed air into the computer's air vents to free the dust from the fan.

Overheating Caused by Broken or Defective Cooling Fan or Motor

If your computer is shutting down randomly and is abnormally hot, your computer may be overheating because its cooling fan is not active at all. If this is the case, the fan itself or the fan motor may be broken or defective. You will need to replace the cooling fan. You can use this guide to replace the cooling fan.

Wi-Fi is Slow or Drops Connection Frequently

The computer's wireless internet connection is unstable, disconnects frequently, or will not connect at all.

Incorrect Wi-Fi Drivers

If your computer will not connect to a wireless network or frequently drops connection, you could be using incorrect wireless card drivers. Go to this site and click "Driver". Scroll down to the "Wireless LAN Driver" listing that corresponds to your wireless card's manufacturer and click "Download".
Note: You may have to do this on another computer and transfer the driver to the Acer E5-571-54FL due to the nature of this issue.

Broken or Defective Wireless Card

If your computer does not recognize a wireless card and will not allow you to connect or view networks, your wireless card may be broken or defective. You will need to purchase a replacement wireless card. You can use this guide to replace the wireless card.

Keys are Sticky or Do Not Work When Pressed

Either all or some keys are sticky or, when pressed, do not perform their respective function on the computer.

Debris or Substances Underneath Keys

If a key won't press down fully, there may be debris holding the key up. If a key sticks to the keyboard base after pressing it, a sticky substance or sticky debris may be holding the key down after being pressed. You can use this guide (link to our replacement guide) to remove individual keyboard keys. After removing them, check to make sure there is no debris stuck to the key or beneath where the key is held in place. You may need to wipe off any sticky substances. You can follow the guide to place the back in its original position.

Broken Keys

If there are a few keys that don't perform their respective action when pressed, or feel like you're crushing or cracking something when pressing them, those keys may be broken. You can use this guide to replace the entire keyboard.

Broken or Defective Keyboard

If the computer doesn't respond to any keys, even before it boots up, the entire keyboard may be broken or defective. You can use this guide to replace the entire keyboard.
