The computer runs very slowly when handling multiple programs, or it takes a long time to execute programs.

When there are a lot of downloaded programs on your device, they can take up space and slow your laptop down. It can be difficult to know if some of these programs run in the background without user knowledge, and this can cause further slowing. Find programs that you do not use and uninstall them from your device.

Over time dust can accumulate in the hardware which can cause overheating and sluggish performance. Flip the computer over and notice the vents on the bottom and sides. Proceed to vacuum dust out of the computer through these vents.

If your computer crashes during normal operation, crashes during memory intensive tasks, or beeps and will not boot up, this means you may have bad RAM or that you do not have enough RAM. See guide to replacing RAM for your device.

The Seagate Momentus hard drive used in this computer is known to wear down after years of use. Errors/corruption can occur when the user shuts off the computer by use of the power button instead of initiating the shutdown sequence through the operating system. To resolve this issue, get a Windows DVD for the version that you have. Please note that the specific version does not matter, only that it is for Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8. Boot to the DVD, and choose “Repair your computer,” then click next. On this screen, pick “Startup Repair” and let it run. After this, your Asus UL80VT should boot correctly. The battery does not hold a charge or the battery life does not last long.

Ensure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

If the laptop only powers up when the power adapter is plugged in, or the battery is not holding a sufficient charge, then the battery is faulty. Fortunately, the battery is easy to replace, follow the guide provided for proper instructions.

When using the audio jack, the sound is distorted due to a internal metal contacts spreading.

With repeated use, the contacts within the audio jacks spread causing a weak connection. Test audio through the computer speakers, then test it using headphones. If the audio is only distorted while listening via headphones, the audio jack or the headphones themselves may be faulty. Audio that cuts in and out is often a sign of a loose/faulty audio jack, so make sure the audio jack is fully inserted in the computer.
