Blender Will Not Turn On
The blender is plugged in, but it still will not turn on.
Check Outlet
Make sure the blender cord is plugged in correctly. Also make sure the outlet is properly functioning.
Check Cord
Make sure the blender cord is not severed or detached from plug. If wires are frayed, then use electrical tape to fix.
Check Attachment
The attachment piece may not be put on correctly. Double check by removing and re-attaching to the motor body.
Proper assembly instructions are in the instruction manual below:
https://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manu...
Buttons Not Registering
If the high speed setting is used longer than recommended, then the motor will overheat and no longer work. Do not hold the 'High,' button for longer than 50 seconds at a time. If this occurs, then a motor body replacement may be needed.
Motor Body and Blender Shaft Do Not Connect
The motor body and the blender shaft attachment will not fit together into a single piece.
Plastic Warped
The heat from the drying cycle on most dishwashers is too hot for the plastic to handle without warping. Taking it out before the drying cycle or not running the dry cycle at all is the best solution. But if the plastic warps, a new blender shaft attachment is recommended.
https://www.cuisinart.com/view-cart.html...
Attachment Broken
The inside latch of the motor body that holds two pieces together is cracked or dislodged. A new motor body is recommended.
https://www.cuisinart.com/view-cart.html...
Smart Stick Not Blending
The blender is plugged in and running, but the blades are not rotating.
Motor Is Not Running
When activating the Smart Stick the motor will start. If the motor is not running, then it may be overheated and will need to be replaced.
Plastic Gear Wears Down
If the motor is running but the blades are not moving, the gear might be worn down and will need to be replaced.
Blades Broke Off
The blades have broken off of the blender shaft. Food that is too dense may break the blades.

hardly used and it wont turn on....and thanks for the help page...I never would have thought to check whether it was plugged in! Am I blonde and haven't noticed.
Worthless product; worthless site.

Ha....that is hilarious! I, too, just tried my blender and the mother won't turn on. I had it past 90 days and no receipt. At least I got a laugh with your comments. Funny.
Gwynn Broome -
Try taking it apart and checking the wires and the sawtered spots for the connection that's all mine was and it was doing the same thing
Crystal -
What??? a replacement is more expensive than a new blender???? And because of bad quality from the begining???
Francisco Sevcik - Réponse
Yes ,I am surprised too.I haven't used it much and now I see that it wont work.
Ann -
First time taking it out of the package, and it won't run

You have to hold down (or tape down) the unlock button at the top. If it is not pressed down at the same time, the low/high buttons don’t work.
bipidy -
Sucks, right out of the box, the motor never turned on!
Looks really nice, just can’t use.

The instructions do not make it clear this is a two button operation as stated in a previous comment that solved my dilemma; you must simultaneously press buttons at the distal end of the handle along with the low or high speed button.
Susan Miller - Réponse
Mine keep shutting off, even though I’m holding down both top button (lock/unlock) and the speed button. I can let go of the top button, thing works for maybe 5 seconds, then stops. Anyone ???
stella sands - Réponse
Just using it for the first time. Once the unlock button is pushed simultaneous with the low/high buttons, my wife found she could let go of the unlock button and it would remain on. Wacky feature!!
Daniel Lewis -
I hold down both top button and a speed button. But the thing shuts off after a few seconds. I have to do it over again: press both buttons. Same thing. Even if I let go of top button, the thing stops in a few seconds on its own. Anyone?
stella sands - Réponse
Hrdly used it yet. Won’t even start - certainly wont get a cuisinart (such a “good” name) again. My previous one - NOT this brand - lasted forever until someone took it home without telling me. SOOOOOOO frustrating!! And yes, Miriam, the plug works!
Albert Einstein - Réponse
After very limited use, the grey plastic ring that connects the motor to the blade wore out. Perfectly good motor and blades have to go into the garbage!
Catherine Connor - Réponse
Chopper blade only turns when bowl is empty. That makes it USELESS. I’ve tried several times to get it to work with nuts inside bowl, but it won’t move. What am I doing wrong. It worked once right out of the box and hasn’t worked since (six months ago) Immersion blender works fine. Any suggestions before I toss it!
lizziebolton - Réponse
Holding the unlock button and pressing the high or low speed buttons does NOT work.
robin -
Push in low or high, THEN unlock. Low lasted only 5 seconds. High kept running.

I've had mine 5 years. I bought a different brand with a more powerful motor. You shouldn't produce and sell junk under the Cuisinart name.
Diane - Réponse
I totally agree with you Diane…You are so right!! I trusted the brand before.
Jill McAnally -
I paid more money for a blender that I thought would hold up. 5 speed cusinart …after 5 months one side will not spin ugh…!!!may As well buy cheap !!
ella__53 - Réponse
Agree—this is a piece of crap. Want my money back.
jackye finch - Réponse
Mine wouldn’t work either until someone on here said to hold the lock/unlock button and the on button at the same time…also sometimes you have to press them both twice and hold while you are using the stick…but I don’t like that it heats up really quickly so I am taking mine back.
Jill McAnally - Réponse
I have only used the blender once. Now I need it to finish my soup and it does not turn on. Checked everything as suggested but a no go.
Gerry Vincent - Réponse
It needs to be taken apart and the connections checked
Crystal -
This is my 2nd one. First one would not turn on and now neither will this one. Outrageous. I want my money back.

Plastic Gear Wears Down after using a few times!
Cuisinart sucks!
Peter Pannenkoek - Réponse
Yep, the POS is awful. Apparently small chunks of pineapple and honey with yogurt are too much for tis. Now the blades wont turn… I guess all that dense material was too much for the gears to handle? Wow… great job Cuisinart on making a piece of cheap ass garbage

Bought it brand new from the box would not turn on
I need it for recipe for company I am having tonight
Kamlesh Mehta - Réponse
After purchasing, I threw away box and put away. Went to use it, ( 2 weeks later) and it would not power on. Cuisinart was a name I trusted for quality so I did not use precaution. Lesson learned…..I don't like wasting my hard earned money.

Thank you!!!! If you hold down the unlock button and the start button both at the same time, it works. Once started you can release the unlock button. Pretty poor design feature but it does work.

How do I replace the plastic gear?
Jake W - Réponse
Can the plastic connector inside the motor which connects the motor unit to the shaft be replaced? And where can I buy one?

I can’t get the motor body and the blending attachment to dislodge or disconnect. Nothing happens when I press the release button. Any thoughts?

Hardly ever used it, but now blade skips turning; useless Chinese crappy product that never really gave satisfactorily results. For the price could they not have manufactured it in Canada? How the heck do you change the gear if that is what is needed? No phone number shown for Cuisinart on the product - I suppose they knew that customers may have complaints. Peter

First time using. Won’t turn on. Oh! I didn’t think to plug it in!! Good advice! …. Oh, wait, it still won’t turn on after plugging in either, hmm. Well, at least my toaster still works in the same outlet I used for this piece of crap blender. Weird how this was the replacement for the previous one that overheated and blew up on my wife in her hand. Maybe this was Cuisinart’s way on preventing this one from blowing up in her hand this time. I guess I should be grateful to them for that.
Robert Scoville - Réponse
Smart stick not blending. Motor turns on with a harsh sound and blades won't rotate.

Brand new and won’t turn on. I’ve never used it even once. Awesome paperweight, other than the sharp blades.

We have had our Cuisinart had blender for a few years. When trying to use it a few days ago the motor hummed but sound like it was laboring and the blades did not spin. I assumed it was time for a new one because no one fixes anything anymore. I tried one last time to turn it on and the blades turned very slowly and again, the motor sounded labored. I grabbed my trusty “mechanic in a spray can”, namely WD-40 and sprayed all the moving parts I could see without taking the motor housing off. Sprayed the blades and shaft and also the upper part where the blades attach to the motor. Turned it on slow and it tried hard and then spun effortlessly. Clicked it to high and t spun like it was brand new. And I thought I was going to have to buy a new one! Yippee! Everything is now fine. WD-40 FIXES EVERYTHING!! TRY IT BEFORE PANICKING AND THROWING YOUR PERFECTLY GOOD APPLIANCE AWAY!!
Randy Johnson - Réponse
Spray all the moving parts like the blades and the shaft at both ends with the miraculous “mechanic in a can”, good old WD-40. Mine stopped working after about 5 or 6 years and I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. But WD-40, just like always, worked just fine. No sending it away, no going out for a new one, just a couple of spritzes on all visible moving parts and connections and it is just like new. Never be without your WD-40. I have a can in the kitchen, one in my workshop, and one in my car. Had a little electrical problem with the gear linkage in my Mercedes and looked up how to get at it on YouTube. Sprayed it with WD-40 on the electronics board since no moving parts were visible and after a few minutes, I turned the key and voila! Everything was fine.
Randy Johnson - Réponse
Randy, you put WD-40 in your food? That’s suboptimal. Not even youtubers doing repair videos do that. For the love of god man, google “food grade lubricants”.
Luther Umbras -
This product is landfill-bound after 3 years and MAYBE 20 uses. I’ve kept it clean and it still spins fine - but the blades have dulled and the replacement part is engineered to be as expensive as the original product. It should be illegal to sell products this cheaply made and marketed using the drug dealer model for parts and profit. F-you, Cuisinart.
Luther Umbras - Réponse
For the people complaining about the product or Cuisinart, this isn’t a website for either purpose. This page is set up to help determine problems and suggestions on how to address the issue. Talking about how much the product or the company sucks, or telling the company to f-off, is not helpful in this forum. If you have an issue with Cuisinart, go to Cuisinart’s web page. If you have a helpful suggestion on how to deal with an issue related to this product, then this is the right place for that. Reading through a bunch of complaints makes finding helpful information that much harder.
Barb Boxley - Réponse

i was interested in reading the results on how to fix mine bc I don't just want to toss it without at least trying to fix it. Some of you sound like little brats that their janky ass had, and it broke, and you are blasting your wahs on a page that isn't titled, comments from !&^&^#@, I mean, just saying like chill, and either answer the &&^&^$^ question, or go somewhere else, please . ?
Lee Parker - Réponse
Just an FYI. I’ve had my immersion blender for over 5 yrs. Today the blade would not turn but motor works fine. I was ready to toss & my fixer of all husband comes in, puts bacon grease on the blade & it works perfect again.
Weyna Sands - Réponse
This thing is the worse thing I ever used have to hold power button and speed button down in order to get it to work for a few seconds then fight to get it going again worse thing on the market.

Thank goodness I was drinking my homemade smoothie from a straw this morning!!! I found the blades broke off quietly during the mixing process. I found one piece of the blade component and then spent the next 30 minutes searching for the other blade piece. I am NEVER going to buy Cuisinart again.

Piece of crap! Does not work out of the box that I did not open from being given since last year. Motor spins but not the blades.

Have used this Smart Stick ONCE and it turned off after about one minute of use. Still had the yellow page with the 1-800 "support" number, so I gave them a call. Not happy just to have you wait on hold forever, every minute or so the automated attendant comes on and asks you to press one to get a call back or two to remain on hold. My iphone now shows I've pressed '2' about two dozen times. Really annoying, guys, you have redefined "customer service." I'm about half an hour away from taking this back to Costco who, bless them, will take it back even though I foolishly threw away the box after it worked the first time.
Cuisinart, you have ruined your reputation with me ... it's Kitchen Aid all the way going forward.

We just took ours out of the package and it didn’t work at all. We tried multiple outlets as well. Piece of crap!

Tried to operate turned on nothing not even an attempt to spin? Used a couple of times worthless????
james blazier - Réponse
If you're sure the outlet works, then it's likely a failed switch. If the blender has gotten wet, then it's likely the contracts have corroded or become disconnected from vibrations. Try opening the body and checking out the board inside.

Ours too! Used once and now it won't work! Tried with both attachments, tried multiple plugs and tried the "hold the lock" button advice on another page.

You have to be sure to press the top button (on top--the lock button) and either the low or high button at the same time. A little awkward, but then it works. At least for me.
