Device will not power on

When you press the power button, your DYMO LabelWriter 450 does not turn on.

Device is not plugged in

Check that your LabelWriter is properly receiving power by making sure the power adapter is plugged in all the way into the back of the device.

Device is loose in wall jack

Check to make sure that your device is inserted all the way into the wall jack. The power adapter that comes with the LabelWriter ends in a large box, so it is possible that it may have come loose in the wall jack.

Device will not connect to the computer

Your computer will not recognize your DYMO LabelWriter 450.

USB cable is not the correct type

First, make sure you have a USB Type A to USB Type B cable (it comes included with your LabelWriter). The LabelWriter requires a USB Type B cable, so if you have misplaced the cable that came in the box, you will need to get another one.

USB cable is not properly inserted

Second, make sure the cable is securely inserted into the correct ports on both the device and your computer by inserting each end of the cable until they will not go any further.

Computer does not have the correct drivers

If your LabelWriter will still not connect to your computer, try downloading the corresponding drivers from the DYMO website by searching for 'DYMO LabelWriter 450' and clicking Support on its DYMO device page.

Poor print quality

Your DYMO LabelWriter 450 is printing faded labels or missing letters on the labels entirely.

3rd party labels

Labels that are not made by DYMO may not work with your LabelWriter. 3rd party labels may have different thermal sensitivity than DYMO labels, and the perforated holes on 3rd party labels may not be recognizable by the device. Make sure your labels are genuine DYMO LabelWriter brand labels.

Dirty print head

To clean the print head, first remove the label roll by lifting the lid and pressing the black-and-white eject button on the right-hand side of the device. Clean the print head and the bottom of the label roll with a small, soft brush or cotton swab.

Old or defective labels

It is also possible that the label roll in the device is old, or has become defective. To check for a defective roll, insert a different roll from a new box. If the new roll produces a print with no problems, it means that the old roll was old or defective.

Device does not respond to input

Your DYMO LabelWriter 450 is frozen, and will not respond to input and will not print.

Device is not responding

First, you can try unplugging the LabelWriter from the computer and the wall, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in. It is possible that your LabelWriter is overloaded, and a restart of the device will solve the problem.

Software is unresponsive

Second, you can check your computer to see if the DYMO Label software is responding properly. To check if the software is responding, you can bring up the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL, or CTRL+Shift+ESC on Windows 10) on Windows or Force Quit (CMD+Option+ESC) on Mac. If the Label software is not responding, you can wait for it to start responding again, or quit the program and reopen it.

Computer is not recognizing device

It is also possible that your computer is not recognizing the LabelWriter. If you are certain that you have the correct drivers for the device installed on your computer, restarting the computer may solve this problem.

Labels are cut off

Your DYMO LabelWriter 450 is printing misaligned letters, and cutting off labels at the wrong points.

Preset size in software is incorrect

In the DYMO Label software, go to Preset Printing Sizes, and make sure your printing settings are matching the paper you currently have in your LabelWriter.

LabelWriter prints one or more blank, extra labels

Your DYMO LabelWriter 450 is releasing one or more blank, extra labels in between correctly printed labels as well as when the Feed Button is pressed. (Also applies to LabelWriter® 450 Twin Turbo).

Sensor Issue

This is typically an issue with the LabelWriter’s label sensor. Many users that have had this particular issue have had success in resolving it by simply reseating the sensor’s ribbon cable where it connects to the motherboard.

Mine is just printing empty label after empty label as soon as I turn it on. I’ve emptied the print queue, rebooted etc but as soon as it has power it churns out label after label. This started happening after I cleared a paper jam.

Using Windows 10, and my 4XL is just printing empty label after empty label (with garbage lines printed on) as soon as I turn it on. I’ve emptied the print queue, rebooted, reinstalled latest software, etc. but as soon as it has power it churns out label after label. Printer works perfectly on a Mac using iOS. Has cost me a lot of money in scrap labels!

I’m having the same issue. It worked fine and then all of a sudden I clicked the print button and then it sounded like it was going to print, but it just turned off and now it will not come back on no matter what I do. I noticed too that the green light on the power supply box was always solid green and now its slowly blinking.

I have done a self test and the printer prints fine, but when I send a label to the printer it prints blank. No writing on the label at all. This is a new printer, I have tried to reinstall the driver and turn it off and back on, unplug and replug everything, nothing works. Still pushes out the label with no print. I am using simple, 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 Dymo labels.

My label writer is not “printing on labels”. When I run a self test, all works, however when I try to print a label, it scrolls through, but nothing is printed.

On mine, everything appears to be working normally except when I go to print, I get a printer message on my computer saying the printer is out of paper - and nothing prints, not a blank label, just nothing happens. I've tried unplugging and replugging everything, I did a self-test, which worked perfectly. Still can't print. Any ideas?

DYMO LabelWriter 450 will not print on macOS 12.6.1 but does print on macOS 10.13.5 Same cables on both systems. I've check the drivers and have Dymo Connect.app ver 1.4.3.103 Demo Label.app 8.7.5.47. Anyone have a fix?

Dave Fries - Réponse

For a couple of weeks since I installed the DYMO Connect software in October, it launched every time I started my computer. Then it stopped doing that. I didn't really notice until now, when I wanted to use the LabelWriter 450 Turbo. I tried to launch the software, but that attempt only caused the initial startup window to appear for a few seconds and the software did not launch. When I would click on the "Show hiddon icons" arrow at the lower right, I could see the DYMO icon there. If I looked at the Task Manager, it showed that DYMO Connect was running. I tried removing the printer and restarting the computer, which did not work to resolve the issue. I found instructions to completely remove the software and drivers and edit the registry to remove references to DYMO. Then I downloaded the software, plugged the printer back in, installed the software, and the program launched. I am running Windows 11 on a new Dell computer with an AMD motherboard and graphic card.

My unit connects to my PC, and shows as connected but will NOT print. Tried disconnection the re-connection, will form feed one label and then when asked to print NOTHING. Repeat disconnect, etc and ask for a test label, feeds half a label and throws an error but has no resolution nor will it print or form feed, or anything actually. Reset as per instructions. Same results.

Robert Gaskell - Réponse

My labels are printing the wrong direction on the label. No matter what I try to do to correct it, it just keeps printing the wrong direction. So only half the address is showing at the top of the label instead of across. Can anyone help me fix this?

Cindy - Réponse

This happened to me after a printer jam, what happened was a piece of label was stuck inside the printer, causing issues with the sensor, once I removed the front lower panel and cleared the stuck label parts the printer worked perfectly.

It will work for a short time, then again , I will have to go through the process again to get it to print.

The latest Dymo software does not work with older Dymo printers on Windows 10, I downloaded the Windows 8 Dymo software from their support site for my Dymo LabelWriter 400 printer and ran it in compatilbity mode on my Windows 10 laptop. Very poor that they do not support their own printers in the latest software version.
