JBL Clip 2 Bluetooth pairing difficulty
Once the device is turned on your mobile or Bluetooth device that provides sound will not connect or pair with the device. Possible device not found.
Device Compatibility
Bluetooth should be compatible with all devices in most circumstances, but you can run into situations where devices that have different versions or non-compatible software and won’t work with each other.
Bluetooth Proximity
If you are trying to pair you device to a source make sure its within 30 feet or the proximity listed in the instructions. You might get a message on your device or hear the speaker say that device is not in range.
Bluetooth pairing
If you haven’t prepared both devices for pairing you device wont function properly. Make sure your Bluetooth is on both devices and, that it is in pairing mode or that it is showing that it is discoverable. Sometimes it requires you to press and hold for a long period of time. Normally you would see some type of flashing light.
Distorted audio output over speaker
The device works, but the sound quality is poor and has moments where sound will play and then suddenly stop without notice.
Dirty Auxiliary Port
The auxiliary port is the main connection to the JBL Clip 2 to make a wired connection to your music player. Over time dust and dirt may make its way into the port, causing a bad connection and cleaning out the port with the appropriate tools could restore the audio.
Poor Wire Connection to Speaker
Occasionally, it is possible that the connections to the speaker might be faulty. This would require you to disassemble the JBL Clip 2 and to look into this problem, checking if some wiring might have to be connected or fixed.
Defective Speaker Unit
If both problems above seem to check out then it is possible that the speaker itself is faulty requiring it to be replaced. This will require you to order a replacement speaker and install the new one using a guide.
JBL Clip 2 will not stay on
When you press the power button, the startup sound or the light indicator fails to inform you that the device has powered on.
Low or bad battery
JBL Clip 2 speaker is able to keep working for eight hours and costs a little time to be fully charged. Try to plug in your device and get a successful charge. If it doesn't work without charging or maintain a charge for eight hours, a replacement of battery may be needed.
Damaged Power button
If the light indicator is not on after you press the power button. A hardware-based trouble may have affected the power button. The power button has either fallen off or is jammed and it will need to be replaced.
Broken charger
Please check if there is any visible damage to the USB charging cord. If not, connecting your speaker with your phone or laptop to check if it works. If the USB charging cord is damaged or it can not be connected to your electronic device, a new USB charging cord could solve this problem.
Motherboard
If none of the above methods works, the motherboard might be causing the issue. Try replacing the motherboard and the speaker should start working.
JBL Clip 2 is not charging
When the JBL Clip 2 is connect to a power source yet there is no indication that the device is charging, indicated by the charging LED not coming on or the device does not turn on.
Charging cable
Check the USB cable for bends or breaks in the wire, if there are exposed wires in the cable it may be unable to transfer power. Try testing if your USB cable is functioning by using the cable on another device, and if it charges move on to the next step.
USB slot
Search the USB slot for any noticeable problems. Clear any obstructions and try charging. If there are no signs of a problem move on to the next step.
Faulty speaker
Use another micro USB cable to try and charge the device. If this does not solve the problem there may be an issue to the speaker, and may require replacing the speaker to fix.
JBL Clip 2 will not stay clipped
When you attempt to clip the JBL Clip 2 using the carabiner, however fails to stay clipped to whatever surface you are trying to attach it to.
Faulty carabineer
Often times we may clip the JBL Clip 2 on to a bag but if the carabineer is not completely locked your JBL Clip 2 can fall off from where you attempted to clip it to. To avoid this ensure the carabineer is secure, and if the carabineer itself is not securing and swings open a replacement carabineer may be needed.
Carabineer connection
Without the carabineer your device no longer has the ability to connect to bags and other clips. If your carabineer holder on the device is broken a replacement part can be bought to replace the piece so a new carabineer can be installed.
Secure connection
If you attempt to clip your JBL Clip 2 on to a location that does not allow the carabineer to completely secure, it is possible for it to fall off. Be sure that any location you attempt to clip using the carabineer allows it to fully close to ensure a secure clip.

I currently have the problem that my Clip 2 is blinking red and blue at all times, even when charging. Also I don't get any response from using the buttons, no power on/off sounds, no louder/quieter sounds and the light keeps blinking red and blue in sequence.
What's wrong with my device ?

I get the exact same thing. I returned my device and now the same thing is happening to my replacement. It's a shame, because I love the sound. Going to have to find a different brand!

Exact same issue! Went to Charge it up and now it is blinking Blue and red. Will be returning tomorrow!

Same Issue - I leave it charging, and when I came home the led was blinking red/blue and no boton was working. Seems to be a battery issue. Now I have my money back and looking for an other brand. This is the best help you are going to get. JBL support page is useless.

I had this happen too, there is no fix that I know of except to let the lights flash until it dies, then charge it

I have the same exact issue. The pairing light is flashing but I can not pair it. Thought it might be another phone, but tried all the phones and none of them worked - any solutions?

experiencing some problem with my clip 2 is that, the audio stops after 2-3 songs whenever my phone locks, but when I unlocked it, the song is playing but with no sounds. I need to pause and play it again for the sound to get back

My phone can not see the clip2. The phone is a huawei p8. The phone is just reinnstaled and has the newest software. The bluetooth woorks good, and the phone/bluetooth connects with a bunsh of other devices i have. The clip 2 connects with a old ipad, but not to the huawei, and not to a older samsung. What to do!

I had the same problem…I put a paperclip in the very small reset hole on the bottom…I did it with the speaker on and off.
Turned back on and it started working and the phone could see it again

Power on. Then its a quick 1 press on the bluetooth button. Then pair from your phone. If you hold the bluetooth button long youre doing it wrong. Cheers

DO NOT stick paperclips -or anything else, for that matter- into the hole in the bottom. It’s not a reset button, it’s the friggin MICROPHONE. This is silly advice and a way to possibly damage your device.
To reset, hold the dial and volume up buttons concurrently to reset the device. Stabbing at the microphone hole won’t do it.

The device plays no sound. The bluetooth is connected to my phone (iPhone 8, in case this matters) because I can control my phone’s volume controls through the Clip 2. No sound even if I plug in the 3.5 mm jack into my computer (MacBook Pro). How can I fix this/Did I get a defective product?

My clip 2 has 2 too many problems.
1. Bluetooth will not connect to any apple device (MacBook 2017, iPad mini 4 and iPhone 5.) that are on their newest versions. It connects with my more expensive Bluetooth devices (like B&O H5), but am I supposed to assume that this is just cheap crap?
2. Poor sound. Originally I thought a defective Bluetooth speaker was not bad, since there is an aux cord. Worked the first 2 weeks, now the sound quality is quite horrible. The same songs I listened to on this speaker a week ago now appear to be distorted. And no, this can’t be aux port of my devices as they work perfectly with my self built speaker that has a much more powerful non-filtering at all amplifier, where I can’t hear any distortion.
This is most definitely a defective speaker, so i’d like to ask where and how I could return this for a replacement under warranty?

I have the samer problem now on 2 JBL Clips. Bluetooth sound is great and then it drops off. only decent sound is through AUX cable. I guess you get what you pay for

I currently have the problem that my clip2 doesn’t connect with more than one device (not simultan). so before I connect a new device I have to reset it again. (louder and phonebutton till it shuts down). If I’ve done that, i can connect a new deviece.

My clip 2, song automatically stops playing in speaker even though the song plays in phone. Experiencing similar issue with multiple Android and ios device.
I have to pause the song and play Again for the song to play again from speaker.
After sometime it again stops playing in speaker.
I tired resetting with phone + volume up button pressed together but this did not help

My device only works when it is charging even if it has battery and It does a pink light when the usb cable is in it. When I try to turn it on it just shut down directly. Did someone experienced this before ?

Same thing here its irritating me because ive had it for a while now, like 2 years and the only thing that makes it stop is letting it keep blinking for like two days until it dies then chargingg it again, because after thst it usually stops, so stupid… anyways, i looked it up and it means its trying to connect to bluetooth but that doesnt make sence because none of my buttons work and no other devices are open to connect, i dont think i can get my money back because i have had it for so long, oh well ill just have to get a different one. The bigger jbl speakers seem to be a good inbestment from what i heard but it would suck if it happened to that one cause its more expensive. I dont know if i should go with jbl anymore.

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the loud obnoxious startup/shutdown/connecting sounds that the speaker makes? I’ve seen solutions for other models for which it is possible through the JBL Connect app, but it doesn’t support this particular model. There has to be a way to do that, right?? I’d be super grateful if anyone has any ideas

I wasn’t paying attention this weekend and water got into the charging port of my JBL Clip 2 - it was submerged for I’d say, about 15-20 minutes with the USB flap open. At the time, the speaker would still connect to my phone, and play music, but then would start/stop and disconnect at random times. I tried plugging the speaker in, and there’s no indicator that it is charging. When I try to turn on the speaker, it does not respond. Is this a fixable issue, or does the charging port getting wet completely kill the speaker?

I’m having an issue with my JBL CLIP2. It doesn’t keep on when playing songs. If you play it unpluged from the charger, it only plays songs for a few minutes, like 3-4min. If you put the volume at max, it doesn’t keep on for more than 1 min. The thing is that if you keep it on the charger and in an outlet, it will play for as long as you want too. But that’s not what is expected from bluetooth speakers LOL. Just want to know what you think. Thinking about sending an email to JBL asking them what is their solution to this

My Clip2 was synked perfectly with my android phone. Unrelated to my clip device I had to do a hard reset on my phone. Oddly (how can this be) no phone or other pairing is working with the clip now. I have blue flashing dots for pairing. I hear the pairing jingle, and no phone or computer “sees” the clip to pair with it. Is it now trash?

I've got almost all of the problems. It sometimes turns on then fails, battery indicator on the phone jumps between random percentages, it doesn't charge (usb charge port is alright), sometimes just doesn't turn on, rarely turns on and plays for couple of minutes then fails.

My JBL clip2 was not getting charged. When I contacted the service centre, they informed me that the battery needs replacement. But, the battery is not being supplied by JBL since my device is out of warranty. I contacted JBL regarding the same but they have refused to provide any support since product is out of warranty.

I’m trying to use my Clip+ for handsfree phone use, but although I can hear the person I’m connected to very well, they find my voice muffled. Is the speaker supposed to pick up my voice or do I need to have a microphone or headset to attach to it?

My Problem is unique my JBL Clip 2 outer shell has a hole in the outer shell. What I mean is the control buttons for power
volume etc are coming off (disintegrating) in pieces and I have completely lost a button. And there is a gaping hole in it's
place. Can I find an outer shell replacement any where on the NET? Please advice.
