No Picture / Black Screen
Verify that the console is turned on and that the game is fully inserted and securely positioned. If so, clean the dust out of the game port using a can of condensed air (aerosol) or a cotton swab (Guide: cleaning the game port).
Won’t Turn On
Verify that the AC adapter chord is plugged in. Check the AC adapter chord for any obvious tearing or fraying. If problem persists, check for a disconnected solder point at the power port once the Sega Genesis is taken apart (Guide: disassembling the device). If necessary, re-solder.
Static Screen
Sega Genesis is not registering with the television.
Verify that the RF cable is fully plugged in to the television and console and that there are no tears or problems with the cable. Also, check for disconnected solder points at the RF cable port once the Sega Genesis is taken apart (Guide: disassembling the device).
Controller Not Working Properly
Could be caused by a faulty controller or controller port.
Verify that the controller is fully plugged in to the console. If so, try a different controller in the same port. If this controller works, then there is a problem with the first controller (click here to buy a new controller). If this second controller doesn’t work, then there is most likely a problem with the controller port.
No Sound
There is a problem with the RF cable (could be a connection problem or a faulty cable).
Verify that the RF cable is plugged in. Try wiggling the cable around and if this doesn’t work, then it needs to be replaced. (click here to buy a new RF cable)

So my sega will turn on just fine boots any game is in perfect condition but the sound is just weird like it will have the regular sound but with a buzz like a static noise like the console is dirty or clogged I took it apart and cleaned making sure I got every thing and still makes that weird sound idk if it’s just the old ness of the console or my RF cable is bad or I need to clean better but reply if you know.

^^its the sega genesis atgames console.

The atgames genesis is NOT a true genesis. It is a cheap plug-n-play games console. If you depress the power on the front you indeed will see a power light, so this one is broken.
You are better off getting a real genesis used as these units are notorious for sound issues.

I just picked up a high definition sega Genesis and a few games. Hooked it up the next day, popped zero tolerance in and it worked great. Played that for about half an hour, took it out and popped in a different game. Nothing.

My childhood genesis powers on but shows no sign of working on the tv screen. I've tried both with av and rf cable and the screen does not even go black when on. I don't know what could be wrong. It worked fine for decades. Any suggestions?

I got this plug in Genesis for my birthday at the beginning of this year and played a lot throughout the semester. Came back from summer break now when I plug it in the light from the Genesis comes on. But no sound or lights come from the TV screen. Is it broken?

Just bought my Sega Genesis Classic atgames console. Plugged everything up and nothing appears on my HD TV. Should the TV be in video or channel 3 mode? I tried both and nothing appears on the screen. There are only so many cables coming out of the console and only 3 cables (red, white and yellow) cables plugging into the input. What am I doing wrong?…..please advise!!

I got an original genesis for free, the owner wasn’t sure if it worked or not, I plugged it into the tv, turned it on, (no games yet), the power was lit but there was nothing on TV (no signal). Does it work?

I have a SEGA Genesis wave one. The controller port is weird because the d-pad and jump button works, but the others don’t. I tried another controller, but same thing.

Since 2017 when I got my Model 1 Sega Genesis, one problem has always bugged me, and it's that at least with RGB SCART it goes out of sync from time to time in varying ways. It either goes out of sync once each couple of seconds or maybe a minute or it does it constantly. Not sure what the cause is, but I have tried using two different video upscalers including the Framemeister and the OSSC and tried two different flashcarts including the Mega Everdrive X3 and the Mega SD by TerraOnion. Same issue occurs on all of the devices and carts mentioned. So my only guess is that it's either an issue with the cable or the console itself.

So we moved the sega from a smaller monitor to our HD tv. It had sound on the monitor, but now On the tv, no sound. We didn’t change cables, and it’s plugged in correctly. However I noticed there’s no red audio cable, but it worked fine without it before. Help?

What do I need to try if the sega genesis goes into a loop when there is a game put in it and it won’t let me reset to start my own game? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
