This troubleshooting guide is for the Sony Cyber-shot SD450 digital camera.

Camera will not turn on

Battery may not be in the camera.

Check to make sure the rechargeable Lithium Battery is in the camera. If it is, make sure the battery reads "Battery Pack NB-4L"

Battery may have lost charge.

Connect the camera to the provided AC adapter and let it charge fully, then try turning on again.

Note:

If neither of these help, you may have to purchase a new battery.

Battery will not charge or runs out quickly

Replace the Battery

Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 Battery Guide.

Images are blurry/distorted

LCD screen is dirty

Clean the LCD screen with a damp paper towel.

Replace the LCD

Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 LCD Guide.

No image on LCD screen

Camera may be off

Ribbon Wires may not be connected

Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 LCD Guide to access and attach the Ribbon wires.

Note:

The LCD may need to be replaced. Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 LCD Guide.

Flash is not functioning

Capacitor may not be charged or camera may have low battery

Remove battery and replace with charged battery by following the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 Battery Guide.

Connections may have come loose

Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 Flash Bulb Guide to ensure all ribbon wires are firmly connected.

Bulb may be burned out

Follow the instructions in the Canon Cyber-shot DSC-W290 Flash Bulb Guide to replace the flash bulb.

Lens error code

Several issues can cause this. Try each of the steps in below in order to fix the problem.

Solution One:

Remove batteries from the camera and replace with charged batters, power the camera on.

Solution Two:

Removing the memory card and the battery, replace with charged battery and power the camera on.

Solution Three:

Insert the audio-visual cable into the camera, this will give it more power which may be able to overcome particles blocking the lens' movement.

Solution Four:

Place the camera on a flat surface pointing the ceiling, hold the shutter button while turning on the camera. This hopes to make the camera focus while the lens is extending to realign the lens.

Solution Five:

Use compressed air from a can to blow into any cracks or crevices in the lens. This hopes to blow particulates out of the lens.

Solution Six:

Follow the iFixit guide to remove the lens and replace it with a new one

Camera is not reading memory card

Memory card may not be in the camera

Open the memory card slot to check to if there is a memory card. The memory card slot is located next to the battery.

Control buttons not functioning properly

Make sure to firmly press buttons

Firmly press the buttons when trying to use the camera. The buttons are stiff, so make sure to press the button down completely.

how do I format my memory card?

I have had it apart and battery on lens and works not blocked, but still says turn Pow off and on again. Lens does not even try when turn cam on, not even a sound. Is this a lost cause?
