WiFi Does Not Connect

You have trouble connecting to a WiFi network on your Toshiba P55W.

Identify Possible Causes

There are many reasons the wifi could be malfunctioning. Common reasons include interference frequencies, such as a speaker or cordless home phone; as well as magnetic pulls from many devices. It could also be related to software.

Restart Your Device

This is to see if that fixes your connection problem. Select the Start button > Restart button and see if that repairs the issue.

Command Prompt

Follow the Command Prompt Repair Guide

If these steps do not work, follow the Repair Wifi with Command Prompt guide and as a last resort, contact your ISP and ask them to troubleshoot from their end.

Fully Charged, Will Not Turn On

Your Toshiba P55W is fully charged, but will not turn on.

Disconnect the Battery

Disconnect the battery from the power adapter, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Next put the battery back in along with the the power adapter and attempt to restart.

Reset

If this does not work, press the reset button located next to the sleep-and-charge USB outlet on the right side of the laptop. Then press down on the keyboard, right above the power button. If this does not solve the issue either, replace the battery using the battery change guide.

Bubbles in Screen

Your Toshiba P55W screen has bubbles on the screen.

Seal Around Screen is Broken

If bubbles have appeared around the edges of the screen, replace the screen

Air Trapped Between Polarized and LCD Layers of Screen

In some cases, air may have been trapped between the polarized layer of the screen (under outer, protective glass layer) and the inner, LCD layer of the screen, due to a manufacturing defect. In this case, replace the screen

.

Touchpad Unresponsive

Your Toshiba P55W periodically or consistently cannot be used to scroll, move cursor, and/or click.

Touchpad is Dirty

The touchpad may feel “crunchy” when clicked or have visible debris around the edges. Scrolling and moving cursor may still function normally. If visible debris is lodged around trackpad, try cleaning with air duster. If problem persists, remove touchpad, clean debris, and replace touchpad.

Loose Ground Wire

Touch pad clicks feel mechanically normal, and touch pad has no visible debris lodged around edges, but will not function properly. The ground wire, connecting the touch-pad to the motherboard, may have become disconnected and need to be re-soldered. First , try replacing the touchpad. If problem persists, you need to resolder the touchpad ground wire to the motherboard.

Backlight Visible through screen

Your Toshiba P55W's backlight is clearly visible after long period of use.

Blown Circuit

The backlight may become visible after a period of time. If this happens, remove the screen, check out any circuits that have blown, and repair and replace accordingly. If the problem continues, replace the led backlight.

Hibernation Malfunctioning

Your Toshiba P55W will hibernate/wake on its own.

Needs Recharge

The Toshiba Satellite Radius P55W-B5112 may face sleeping issues once dead for a period of time. If this happens, let it rest and then charge again after some time (approximately 2-3 hours). Then charge it up again.

System Needs Reset

remove the battery and hold the power button for 20 seconds in order to drain laptop of all energy. Plug in the battery as well as the power cord and reset by holding F8 and then reboot.
