Hi,

Do not charge or turn on the laptop as you can cause more damage.

You have most likely damaged the keyboard, the trackpad and possibly the motherboard as well

Clorox is a bleach which means that it will conduct electricity even if it has been diluted with water, (which also conducts electricity and causes corrosion - unless it is distilled water that is). Bleach is also corrosive to some metals as well.

If the liquid seeped through the keyboard or the sides of the trackpad it could have come into contact with the keyboard circuit board and the motherboard etc and caused the resultant problems. Even if the laptop was switched off there is still power available on the motherboard, as the Power button is not a power isolating button

You will need to open the laptop and disconnect the battery as soon as possible and then completely dis-assemble the rest of the laptop to inspect for any damage.

If there is evidence of corrosion or any liquid still in the laptop it will need to be gently cleaned away by using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available from electronics parts stores).

Here’s a link that may help with that Electronics Water Damage

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. This details the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedures to remove all the components. Go to p.81 to see how to disconnect the battery for a start.

If doing all this seems too daunting, contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote. If you decide to do this then do it sooner than later, as it won’t fix itself

If possible, never clean electronic equipment with the power source still connected (this includes the battery) and only ever use Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+. The alcohol will clean and evaporate (if you don’t use too much of it at once) before any damage can occur.
