Keys or Keyboard Not Working

The Keys of the laptop won't respond, sometimes double type characters, stick or appear to be broken or missing.

Keys are Sticking

Keys are continuing to add unwanted characters as if pressed for an extended period of time or will not respond when pressed. Use a can of compressed air under keys to potentially remove large obstructions. If this fails gently pop keys out of their seating and gently wipe the underside of the key and the keyboard underneath it with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.

Replacing the Keyboard

If the keyboard fails to respond after cleaning, or there are keys missing, then the keyboard will have to be replaced. Please refer to this guide.

Touchpad Not Working

Touchpad does not move cursor or act when clicked.

Input Settings Disabled

It is possible that the touchpad was changed in the Windows settings. Follow this list to try and fix the problem:

First, restart the system. It might assist the touchpad with responding once again.

Adjust the touchpad sensitivity in your system settings, they may be too low or high.

Disable tap-to-click from the system settings.

Remove any other devices that are connected (except for the power cord).

Finally, if possible, disable and re-enable your touchpad.

Problems with Driver

Re-install the touchpad drivers. It is possible to download and install the drivers from the official [Acer Drivers and Manuals] page.

As a last resort, restore Windows to the newest version, which would allow the computer to restore its operating system.

Fan is Making More Noise Than Normal

If the fan is consistently making more noise than normal.

Dusty Fan

If the fan for your Acer Aspire v5 571P-6609 is making much more noise than usual, you can either use a small handheld vacuum on the gentle setting or a small can of compressed air to help rid the fan of dust, as demonstrated here.

Too Much Load

The more of a computer's resources are in use, the more heat it will produce which requires higher fan speeds to cool. Reducing the number of programs and applications running on your laptop could reduce fan noise.

Alternatively, you can upgrade your fan to handle a greater load. See [this guide] to replace your fan.

Improper Ventilation

Alternatively, your fan may be compensating for improper ventilation. It is best to set laptops on flat, clear surfaces that will not block the vents.

Black Screen

The display on your laptop is not showing anything, and you know the computer is turned on.

External Device

If you have any external devices connected to the laptop, unplug them.

Problem with Graphics Driver

Restarting the laptop's graphics driver with Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B.

If you still have a black screen, then you will need to follow a more thorough troubleshooting process.

Sluggish Performance

If your laptop is experiencing sluggish performance or hang-ups when using multiple applications.

Too Many Apps

Disable or even uninstall any programs that you do not need or are not currently using. Many programs and applications will run in the background, using up memory, even when you don't need them.

Need More RAM

Your system might simply need more RAM to run. See this guide to upgrade your RAM.
