Phone Not Responding to Finger Pressure

The phone will not respond when touching the screen.

Faulty Proximity Sensor

A proximity sensor deactivates the display and touchscreen when the device is brought near the face during a call. This is done to save battery power and to prevent inadvertent inputs from the user's face and ears. Failure of the phone to register pressure input from the user may indicate the proximity sensor is active. If the phone continues to not properly register user stimulus, then the phone may have a faulty proximity sensor.

Broken Touch Digitizer

The touch digitizer is responsible for relaying user input into the phone's processing system. The touch digitizer may be faulty or broken if the phone does not respond when the user is tapping the screen. Click here for information on how to replace a broken touch digitizer.

Problems Making or Receiving a Call

Phone will not send or receive phone calls.

Airplane Mode Is On

Airplane mode is a feature that prevents sending or receiving a wireless transmission. If this mode is on, the HTC Radar 4G will not be able to make or receive calls. Airplane mode can be turned off by holding the power button and selecting airplane mode to disable.

Sim Card Preventing Phone Calls

A sim card is required to make phone calls. Check to make sure that the phone has a working sim card supplied by the cellular provider. If a sim card is present, check to make sure that the PIN number made by the carrier is entered correctly. If the PIN has been entered 3 times incorrectly, the SIM card will be blocked. Call the cellular provider and they can provide a PUK (PIN Unblocking Code) to unlock the sim card.

Battery Drain

Battery life is dramatically decreasing.

Data Connection Problem

It is possible that the carrier that is under your phone (Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) possibly has checked the technology at your local cell tower. It is possible they are having to do maintenance and that could have issues with your phone having to use more power to connect. It is possible the long phone calls and high temperatures heats the battery up using more power than needed.

Bluetooth Constantly running

The phone’s built-in rechargeable battery should not be draining so quickly once being fully charged. The features and accessories running on the Radar can affect the battery life of the phone. If left on, the Bluetooth connection eats up your battery tremendously. To unpair the Bluetooth device you are connected to, go to the start screen and click the arrow aiming to the right. Click on the settings button and then click on the Bluetooth tab. Then click the On/Off switch to turn the Bluetooth off. Another possible solution to save battery life without going through the trouble of replacing the battery, the user can turn the phone on battery saver mode. Battery saver is usually turned on when the bar at the top of the screen hits 20%. On the start screen, click on the arrow aiming to the right. Once clicked on, go to settings and then battery saver. There is a box you can check that will always turn on Battery Saver when the phone hits 20%. If this does not fix the issue then for more help, click here to change the battery out with a new one.

Not Connecting to Wi-fi

No connection to any wireless network.

No Wi-Fi Networks Displayed

“First you want to see if you have the Wi-Fi connection option off in settings. If the option was off then turn it on and see if you have any Wi-Fi network options showing on your phone. To do this you first go to settings, tap the Wi-Fi option, and then tap the Wi-Fi networking on/off to turn on your phone.”

Cannot fully connect to Wi-Fi Network

“If you cannot fully connect to any Wi-Fi networks and all of your other devices are connected then the antenna is most likely the causation of the bad connection. In which case the phone may need a antenna replacement so that the phone can fully connect to your Wi-Fi network.”

Reboot Loop

Phone is in a continuous state of restarting.

Hard-drive Failure

If the phone restarts on its own, it is likely that the phone's hard-drive is the causation. Therefore, you will need to perform a factory reset to fix this problem.

Switching from 4G and LTE

To manually select the network the device connects to, you can follow these steps. From the start screen, swipe left. The click on the settings button. Next, tap on cellular. Then, tap the network selection field and choose tap to select. The phone will display “Searching…” in the upper left corner of the screen. Once the searching is complete, tap the network selection field again and tap the desired network you wish to use.

Factory Reset Using Only Buttons

Here you can do a factory reset to change the phone back to its original state by just using the buttons. Usually if you are having a persistent problem (reboot loop), you can perform a factory reset also known as a hard reset. This will permanently delete all of your data and customized settings, and will remove any apps you have downloaded and installed. To instigate a factory reset only by using the buttons you will first turn the power off. Then, press and hold the volume up and volume down buttons at same time. Then press and hold the power button. Release these buttons when your phone turns on and displays a text screen. Press the volume down button until the factory reset option is highlighted, and then press the power button. Once that happens, follow the on screen instructions to proceed with the factory reset.
