Laptop will die or shut off even with a full battery.

Plug the charger into the laptop and ensure the battery level is full. Check to ensure that charger is working properly by looking for any damage.

If your charger is still not charging and does not appear to be damaged, your charging port may have liquid damage or the connection pin within the charger may be bent.

If your laptop does turn on, run the Dell battery diagnostic tool.

If you believe you have liquid damage from a recent event, follow the troubleshooting guide below on liquid damage.

If these solutions do not solve the problem, you may need to remove and replace the battery.

Laptop takes forever to boot up, and even when it's booted, it runs slowly.

Your files within the computer may be causing the hard drive to slow down, thus slowing the boot time of the computer. Delete unnecessary files and de-fragment the hard drive.

Your BIOS software is what helps start Windows on your computer. To update your BIOS, follow sections 3 and 4 on the Dell BIOS guide to check your BIOS version as well as to update to the current version within Windows. If your computer cannot boot to Windows, follow section 7 instead.

Your computer cursor doesn't move, and your keyboard does not respond.

Unplug all peripherals (keyboard, mouse, headphones, flash drive) from the laptop and attempt to restart or shut down the laptop.

Hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds. The screen should shut off. When off, press the power button again, and the computer will reboot again. However, if the laptop is completely unresponsive and the power button is also not responsive, unplug the laptop from the AC adapter and replace the battery using this guide.

You press the power button, and there's no response.

Completely power off the computer immediately. Remove all peripherals (keyboard, mouse, headphones, flash drive). Remove the battery immediately, following this guide.

The longer the laptop has liquid within it, the more damaged the components can become. Dry out any visible liquid with a dry paper towel or tissue that will not stick to or get caught on components.

Check the vents in the bottom of the laptop to ensure that no dust is causing a blockage to the cooling system. Clean if necessary with a pressurized air can.

Reference the troubleshooting guide topic above about low battery life. If you are still unsuccessful, you may need to replace your battery.

Your speakers have some or no sound, as well as possibly a "crackling" sound.

Check the speaker vents on the underside of the laptop for dust and other blockages, clearing if necessary with a pressurized air can. If the substance is sticky, use isopropyl alcohol or a wet wipe to clear the blockage. After clearing the blockage, run the Dell speaker diagnostic tool.

If these do not resolve your speaker sound issues, and if you suspect that your speakers are malfunctioning or have liquid damage, then they may need to be replaced following this guide.
