L'aspirateur ne s'allume pas
L'aspirateur ne démarre pas
Mauvais branchement

I have a shark navigator, two years old. All the hoses and tubes are clear; the filters are new. It keeps popping open at the dirt cup. Why? Can't get them to stay closed...means not good suction. Why? Any suggestions???
tekaphil - Réponse
I have the same problem. Is there a solution or is it time to replace?
K Deane -
Same issue as well. Frustrating. I won't recommend this vacuum to anyone again.
Amy Dyer -
Same issue here and I have had it less than 2 years. The grey snap on the cup keeps coming open and will not pick anything up.
marx0531 -
I also have this problem and I just bought the vacuum! First time using it and went to empty cup and dirt fell back onto floor. It won't latch what so ever :(
jeepchic82 -
I was told that when the front filter pops out each time you close it, then it's dirty and should be replaced. Dirt plugs the filter, and it can't breathe anymore.
Frances Kuik -
I had this problem and found there was a clog- a tissue- that I couldn’t see the first time I took the vacuum apart and checked it. I shined a flashlight through the hose from the outside and saw a shape inside it. It was up inside the bend of the hose near the plastic part with the handle. I got the tissue out and then it had suction again.
Green -
I did what it says to do by pressing the power button a few times waiting a few seconds in between then made sure that everything was secure. The vacuum hose wasn't seated all the way. Pressed it in heard a click then pressed the power button and it came on! I was super surprised!

I just replaced the brushroll on our navigator lift away...a total of 11 screws and some fancy wire origami to fit around the swivel joint...they apparently did not want this to be easily user servicabler, but oh well..works fine wth new brush roll

Where did you get your brushroll. I vacuum daily (dog and kids) and my brush roll is wearing out but I'm not going to fork out 400$ for a new vacuum because my brushroll is less functional.

I am having this issue as well, worked yesterday today the brush roller won't activate! Suction is still working. Funny thing is last week, the brush roller would be on as soon as you turned the vacuum on, without engaging it.
Aleah Nelson -
I had the same problem. There is a switch(mine is green) in the head assembly that signals the brush motor to turn off and on, my switch was stuck open (Looks pressed down). If you listen carefully before taking the vacuum apart you should hear the switch click when you raise and lower the handle. If you don't hear the click, try opening up the vacuum and lifting the little metal contact.
Roxanne Felan -
Yes, my button simply stopped functioning; all else was fine. I took the button out of the loop by disassembling the top end. You can’t really get to the botton to replace it without doing major damage to the body so I just cut the blue and black wires to about two inches long each, stripped them, and connected them together with an orange twist-on electrical connector.
I tucked the wires into a convenient cavity inside the machine and reassembled. Now the only way to turn in on for off is to plug it into the wall socket and unplug it. However, it works just as good as it always did. It’s a bit more inconvenient to use now, but at least I don’t have to purchase another unit.
David Massey -
I’m having the same problem. If I hold the on/off switch down, it works. Not the easiest, or smartest, way to vacuum! All in all I really like my navigator. Reading other’s comments, I’ll check if I’m able to get into switch compartment area. Thank you for suggestions!

We just purchased our Shark Rotator in September. It now is causing EVERY circuit to cut out when trying to vacuum. I have cleaned all filters and made sure the roller is clear. Anyone else seeing the same issue?
Lauren Myers - Réponse
Im having the same issue, vacuum is clean and clear, it's only a little over a year old. It's tripping every breaker in my house. Very upsetting. I just went out and bought a Dyson.
Kendra Walker -
Yep, mine has just done that. I have only used it a handful of times. It quit working and I have lost power to part of my house. I checked the breaker and none of them are tripped. I am relieved I am not the only one having problems with their Shark vac!
maryannmansfield -
YES! I have Model NV 505 31 and it was brand new last Christmas. It just started doing it every time I plug it in anywhere on my walls. The only time it won’t trip the circuit breaker is if it is plugged into a surge protector! This is scary! This should be a recall! How is this com[any handling this safety issue?
Barbara M LeBlanc -
Mine was brand new last year, model NV505 31. I got it for Christmas from Target. It just started doing this every time I plug it in. This is scary and probably should be a recall. How is the company handling this? I heard about the Navigator EuroPro being recalled for similar safety reasons.
Barbara M LeBlanc -
That is what I noticed in my apartment - the circuit would flip -and I noticed the black coloured filter on the front where the air blows outward - I hope there is fix for this or something. Did anyone try customer service ?

Model NV22LWM 26 Found in the alley. Roller would not work, no LED light. Found that the electrical 115 volt contacts between the roller and the canister part were not always making contact. Check with a voltmeter (AC) to see if you are getting voltage out from the canister section. I found mine was not making positive contact. Will try to wedge something in and around the square plastic part that joins the roller section to the canister section.

Did anyone find out the cause? This happened after I replaced all the filters. I did notice that over the last few months the sponge filter seems to collect more dust than usual and I was cleaning it after each use. It is only a couple years old.
LOU ANN Brown -
Did you ever get an answer to this? I think a similar thing’s happening to mine. It works for a minute or two then makes a horrible, high pitched sound like something too big was sucked up in it and then it won’t pick anything up.

My 95 year old father has had a Shark Professional rotator for one month and it has totally lost suction the cup is not full the filters have been replaced there is no suction from the nose of the shark but the hose has full suction. So we bought a Shark Navigator lift-away (NV350 I think) several years ago. Its been through the ringer a couple of times and the warranty is expired but it still worked as well as could be expected. Last time we used it it worked fine, but we just plugged it in and the brush roll isn't spinning. Also the brush indicator light wont light up. Is there any way to fix this? Please and thanks to anyone who answers.

Hi! I had this problem too - it was the 3 way switch going out. It is fit with a couple little fins - if you slide a flathead screwdriver under it you can pull it up. I reconnected the wires and mine worked. You may have to take the section of plastic on the pod off to access the wires and get enough length as they are in little cable management hooks. The screws are really easy to see except there is one under the filter sticker. If your switch is truly dead you can order them online from a few places for about $10. Just google shark navigator lift away switch. Hope this helps!

My shark rotary professional would not run the brush. I checked voltage to the lower detachable section and found it was getting the signal to run the brush, so I opened up the base and found the there is an interrupter that stops the brush when it is stowed upright. This interrupter was stuck. So I took it out thinking I would just jumper the switch out and found that it came right apart when I unscrewed it and it popped back up, turns out it was just stuck. It looks like it has some dielectric grease inside it but it had nowhere near enough so I added some and put it back together. Problem solved! Hope this helps someone, good luck!!

My shark rotary professional would not run the brush. I checked voltage to the lower detachable section and found it was getting the signal to run the brush, so I opened up the base (there are two hidden screws under the front tiny rollers, slip a stew driver under the roller and they pop right up, push down with the side of the screwdriver shank and they snap back in) and found the there is an interrupter that stops the brush when it is stowed upright. This interrupter was stuck. So I took it out thinking I would just jumper the switch out and found that it came right apart when I unscrewed it and it popped back up, turns out it was just stuck. Thanks for the helpful tip. Separating the green case of this interrupter switch and gently prying up from the inside got the switch mechanism to pop out and began to function again.

I have a Shark NV480UKT 26 which lost total suction through nozzle. After 30 mins of futile investigation, in became apparent that the blockage was in the 90 degree joint in the handle. And the only way to free up the blockage was to take the handle apart. And, having done that, it is clear this is not something that a customer should be doing. It's a pity, since the body of the vaccuum is very well designed and you can get at any blockage in the BODY of the vaccuum. However if the blockage is in the nozzle, it is VERY difficult to free it. I fully expect another blockage in due course.
Nick Walters - Réponse
how did you take apart your handle to the nozzle? My hose has cracked where it goes into the handle so I have lost suction. But, even though I have taken out all the screws around the handle, and have tried to pry the halves apart, I cannot get it apart. I need to be able to take off the grey ring where it attaches to the steel wand and the grey rubber piece on the inside section of the handle but can't figure out how to do it. If I can do that, I would be able to cut off the damaged section of hose and attach the a fresh piece into the handle. Any ideas?

I’m having the same problem with my Navigator lift away. But now, it will only work if I continually hold the on/off switch in the on position. Reading comments from others, it was suggested to check the switch, if it’s assessable. I’ll be checking it tomorrow! I do like my vacuum, all in all, it works great for pick up. Plus, I’m not ready to spend $$$ for another vacuum, when this one is only 2 yrs old..

I absolutely love this vacuum cleaner, however- this is the second one I've owned in the last two years that the suction is completely gone- I've cleaned all the filters and taken exceptional care of it- I don't think this vacuum can handle every day use- it wears out way too quickly. Surely there is something Shark could do to fix this problem!

If the brushroll is turning when you are vacuuming. It more than likely is the carpet is so thick the machine nose dives into the carpet. If that is the case you will need a different vacuum. If so get a hold of the manufacturer of your carpet and find out which vacuums they recommend.

If suction is lost only when using the floor attachment, this might help. After I cleaned all the clogs in the usual places and installed three new filters, the brush unit was still spinning but not picking up. Since the handheld unit was working just fine, I reasoned there must be some piece used exclusively by, but separate from, the floor attachment. I traced the vacuum path and saw the upright piece labelled “Extension Wand.” The red latch at the bottom releases this part. You should be able to see straight through this tube; I could see no light. I dug out the huge blockage, which included a lens cleaning microfiber cloth, and now I have my wonderful Shark back in working order. I haven’t seen any reference to cleaning blockages from this piece. I figure because it has no bends or crevices, it isn’t prone to clogging unless you vacuum up cloths! I hope this helps someone.

Well, lately the suction stopped completely and I was just about to shell out another 145-200 bucks and get another one. I washed the filters, still no change. But thought it was strange that there would be plenty of suction in the hose but not through the rollers. You need to pry off the outer gray plastic housing from the base of the wand. There will be a spring attached to a red plastic piece (two pieces more than likely if it is broken) so be careful it doesnt go flying. The red piece has likely broken in half, and the part that hooks into the wand is detached from the spring end.
You may be able to super-glue it together and get away with that for a few months (I did). But eventually it will break again. I dont know if shark will sell/send just that piece. It would be quite wasteful to replace the whole want just because of a 10 cent piece of plastic. If you have access to a 3D printer, you could probably print one.
It is stress that causes the break, either ripping the want out too forcefully, getting the main part of the vacuum stuck and pulling back too hard, or carrying the vacuum by the wand instead of the handle on the dust cup.

Had my shark Infinity for prob ten plus years. Love it. It still works well as long as I clean or change filters, etc.
However, it recently started making a loud noise on the higher power setting, some of the time. Still sucking, but scares me so I turn it iff. I feel like something inside is out of place. Pipes are not blocked, cup is emptied, there are some threads and hairs on the roller.
I dont see how to take it apart to see. A local vacuum dealer/repair guy says he cannot fix Shark products. (Prob hopes I will buy a Dyson from him).

I have a NV751 that stopped picking up anything.
I open the rotating brush area and clunks of pet hair were bunched up everywhere.
Looking back UPWARD on the suction hose I discovered one of those bleeping Child Proof Outlet plug covers almost perfectly wedged in the hose and was perfectly BLOCKING the hose pickup.
It took a straight slot screwdriver and some needle nose pliers but I got it removed.
THAT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS !
The vacuum works like NEW again.
(I HATE those little outlet safety covers)
So if your NV751 is not suctioning, check filters first. From the rotator head, check back UPSTREAM and chances are that that is an obstruction somewhere in the hose line itself.
Good luck.

Take the plastic lift away part and run it under hot water. There is a mesh part inside that gets so covered in dust that it looks like solid plastic. Once that is clear the suction is returned.

Sharks warranty is not worth the paper it’s written on. Vacuum is 18 mos old. Roller brush is not turning. Called customer service and they wanted to sell me a whole new head for $83.00. Told me it couldn’t be repaired. And the head is not under warranty. When I pay $300 for a vacuum cleaner I expect it to last longer than 18 mos. I told the customer service rep that I can buy a Bissell or a Dirt Devil or any other vacuum cleaner for the cost to replace the head, plus these vacuum cleaners can be repaired easily when the belt breaks. And if not I, I can buy a new one for less than $79. Shark should make it easy for customer to repair or request customer send back to have repaired. Customer service rep was of no help. He was not interested in trying to fix the problem. Just wanted to sell me an $83 replacement head. He must be on commissions! So buyers beware. Shark will not stand behind their product and there is no warranty!

I posted a while back that I couldn’t get the lift-away canister hooked back on the vacuum sweeper. After several attempt…. So I got the spring back where it belongs and put it all back together.. it works now! Canister is hooked back on now.

Yes it says theres a 5 year warranty but they mislead you with that. My rolller head stopped turning it wasn't even a year old. They wouldn't replace it they said the warranty only covers the MOTOR. But, after 3 calls and getting mad and that I was going to let everyone I knew and then some know they didn't stand behind their product. They decided to send me a replacement head but it was purple. I called and told them it was unacceptable mine was brown. They said it would fit I told them I didnt care as much as I paid I wasn't gonna have 2 different colors. After 2 calls and getting mad they said there was nothing else they could do and I should be satisfied they sent me the head they don't normally do that. I said yes there is something else they could do, replace it with a new one. To my surprise he agreed and understood how I felt. He also was the only halfway nice person I spoke with everyone else was not very friendly and one was nasty. So don't buy it for the 5 year warranty

We bought new filters thinking maybe us air having them out was t enough. Cleaned the filter with toothbrush in the cup part thingy and still making weird sucking noise but had a lot of suction when u put ur fingers down by the little vent on side. Started pull every piece off one by one looking for a clog we missed and sure enough up in the handle part at the curve was a huge clog. Found that using the hair remover for bathtub drained worked for most of it then was able to hook back up and all the great suction I have now blew the rest out. Wow was so preparing myself to have to buy a new one. I love this darn vacuum. I have never owned o e this long. However, the floor nozzle is not actually covered by the warranty but if you’ve never called before they should send it for free, that is what they did for me . Granted the 1st replacement they sent me was the wrong part, They sent me the part that the dirt cup sits on! and tried to make me pay $20 to send it back. I refused to pay for return shipping though, it was their fault they sent the wrong part , not mine.

Took off the aluminum handle looked through it, was clean, then ran a broom handle from there to the head of the vacuum. No plugs, just no suction. For some reason its acting clogged but cant find it without taking it apart. Quality is not a concern anymore. I recommend Dyson for sure! Spend the $300 more!

Is felt purchased at fabric store save to use to reconstruct round filter that goes in bottom under circular foam pads x 2?
Its looking pretty worn out and smaller then it should be.
What is the material used under the felt ? Does anyone know?
I'm frustrated with being very careful with this vac- and its sending dist and bad odour into the room - I keep it facing away from the kitchen when using it - its like a bad odour and dist like situation - the cannister i carefully clean every month - but when you empty it - dust every where on the outside of the canister. I clean the filter on top thoroughly - i let everything dry carefully.

I had a problem with my roller not working and tried to take out the relay but didn’t work. Finally after hours of trial and error I figured out the connectors where the head connects to the shaft were bent and not making a good connection !! Crazy ! Works fabulously now ! ;-)

Less than 6 months old the roller doesn’t spin nor is the green light coming on- all else seems to be working ?
Mike Brasic - Réponse
The suction is ok when you disconnect the hose from the main stem. The problem is it is not picking up through the main roller if the roller option is turned off. Overall, when the machine was new it had much stronger suction even though I maintain the filter, the suction has declined and the engine is making a different noise. This is my second Shark and I'm disappointed.

The vacuum’s swivel ability is permanent and the upright position is now too loose and doesn’t snap upright correctly. My husband snapped it down to go into the car when we moved..did he break something?

I have a shark lift away it’s a few years old now. I’ve just cleared all the hair from the roller now when I’ve tried to turn it on, the lights are coming on but it’s making no noise and won’t pick up. When I change it to carpet mode the roller turns and that makes a noise but it still won’t pick up. Does anyone have any idea why?

My shark lift away is leaving a faint line of dust either side of the brush. It is picking up dirt and bits ok. I’ve cleaned and reassembled the filters but that has not lead to an improvement. The dust collection tank is empty. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
S Thomas - Réponse
If it helps others I finally sorted the problem. Although I had checked the flexible hose was clear I hadn’t checked the handle itself which I found was completely clogged up. Had to use a long knitting needle to gradually clear it out. Now restored to full working order.
S Thomas -
The clips no longer hold the dust cup down . They have become loose and frequently fall off.

I'm somewhat disappointed to read how many people have problems with the snap on the dust cup not attaching or coming loose. I suspect that this is a common enough problem that Shark is aware of it. I also suspect that it is a defect and they are avoiding it. I have a temp fix. Run the plastic snap under hot running water and wipe it well before reassembling. That will remove any clogs in the mechanism. That seems to do the trick for awhile. You may have to repeat rinsing the snap a few times.

I have two shark vacuums, one for upstairs, one for down. I have the same problem with both. the suction on the carpet is so strong that I can berely push it. My wife can't move it at all. Is there a way to raise the unit a little to make it easier to vacuum the floors?

My Shark has a blue push switch at the front of the handle just below the top handle which you can move left to right to change the level of suction

I have a Shark Apex vacuum. I had the same problem...the motor would not turn on, but the light would turn on, so I knew that there was power. I pulled everything apart, cleaned the rollers, the hose, the dust bin, the filters, and turned it on and off several times, but the motor would not turn on. Eventually I realized the slide adjustment for dept of pile was the cause. I slid it back and forth and immediately started working after. I was so happy, because the vacuum was only a little over a year old and was worried the motor had gone bad.
