Dell Inspiron 15-7547 Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting page helps diagnose problems for the Dell Inspiron 15-7547 with a 15.6" optional touchscreen and either an Intel core i5 or Intel core i7 processor.
- Computer Won't Turn On
- Keyboard/Keys Not Responding
- Internet is Slow or Not Connecting
- Computer is Running Slowly
- Distorted Audio
The computer shows no signs of life no matter how many times I press the button.
Make sure the outlet your computer is plugged into is working. To test it, try plugging in another device such as a lamp into the outlet to make sure it works.
If your computer won’t turn on, this could indicate the battery is drained. Ensure the charger is working first by plugging your computer in for several minutes before attempting to power on. Make sure there are no kinks, breaks or exposed wires. If there are, or if your device is still not turning on, you may have to buy a new charger.
If your charger is working and your computer still won't turn on, there might be a problem with the battery. You can try to buy a new battery and replace it using this guide.
The keys on your keyboard won't respond or appear to be broken or missing.
If a key can't be pressed down, it may be blocked by debris. To fix this, remove the key and check if something is in the way. Most keys can be removed the by using the Metal Spudger found in the Pro Tech Toolkit, or another slim object, for leverage and simply pop off. Make sure to wipe off the area underneath. Once it is sufficiently clean, snap the key back into position.
If keys on the keyboard are missing, replace them.
If multiple keys or the entire keyboard still fail to respond after the above steps, try replacing it entirely with this guide.
My computer is having problems with its internet connection
Your laptop might not be getting a strong connection to the router or wifi network. Try moving closer to the internet source. You may need to consult your network administrator to make sure your connection is secure.
The router or wifi network you are trying to access might be down or malfunctioning. You may need to call your internet provider.
If none of the above solutions solved your wifi issues, there might be an issue with your wifi card driver. Try to update or rollback your Network Adapter driver (Wifi Card driver).
If your problem persists after all of the above steps, there might be an issue with your wifi card. Replace the wifi card using this guide.
My computer is running slowly.
Your computer may be overheating, which can severely slow down and damage your computer. If your computer is warm, turn off your computer and restart it after it has cooled down.
If your computer is running uncharacteristically slowly, you may be trying to run large programs that the computer's current RAM cannot handle. To fix this, you may need to remove and update your RAM. You can do this by following this guide.
If your problem persists after attempting the above, there may be an issue with your computer's fan. You can remove the fan for cleaning, or replacement, by following this guide.
The sound from my computer is distorted.
The audio driver for your computer may be faulty or corrupt which can lead to issues with the sound. Reinstall your current drivers with clean copies.
