If the screen of your laptop is cracked or parts of the screen is visually distorted (parts of the screen are black), it may be caused by multiple reasons. If your screen is not displaying graphics correctly when you turn on the device, your display drivers may be out of date. You have troubles closing your laptop fully, or the lid may not align with the laptop’s keyboard/base.

Asus Zenbook lid will not fully close

If the laptop is not closing correctly make sure there is not an object between the screen and keypad preventing it from closing. If the screen assembly and the keyboard panel is not flush when closed, examine between the hinge to make sure this area is clear of debris.

The screen display doesn’t stay upright, sometimes over time the screws loosen up. A simple fix is to tighten the screws holding the hinges in place, you can fix this with our guide.

The laptop feels hot to the touch when in use.

Improper surface

Make sure your device is seated on a stable, flat surface (such as a table or desk). Using this device on top of soft surfaces (such as on top of pillows or blankets) can trap heat, causing the laptop to overheat. Try using the device on a different surface to see if this fixes the problem.

If the device is still overheating, then the problem may be the battery. Replace is using this guide.

You are plugging in a mouse or other external devices and the laptop is not identifying anything plugged into the port(s).

USB/Headphone jack/ SD card slot/ micro USB port connectivity issues

If any of the ports listed above on the RIGHT SIDE of the device are not working, try plugging a different cable to the port and if it does not work then your port is broken, or out of place. These ports are connected to the motherboard and cannot be replaced individually. Replace the motherboard with this guide.

Damaged USB port

First try plugging in the cable or external device into another source to make sure the device(s) and cable(s) work fine, and the laptop is the problem. If the cable(s) and device(s) work and still will not connect to the laptop, the USB port could be damaged, and may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Faulty motherboard

If the USB port is located on the LEFT side of the laptop, there may be a problem with motherboard located under the laptop. Replace it with this easy-to-follow guide.

Your laptop takes a while to load, or isn’t successfully starting up. Other symptoms could include the laptop not recognizing external devices plugged into the ports located on the left side of the laptop.

Malware problem or program overload

If your Asus Zenbook seems to be running slower than usual, first we recommend to uninstall programs that you are not using anymore.
